Story
The Catenan Republic—the Hierarchy—may rule the world now, but they do not know everything. I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society in allowing my strength, my drive, and my focus—what they call Will—to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

The dictatorial Augurs - once thought of almost as gods - were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

Editorial reviews
Mighty warriors and ancient magicks: continue Brandon Sanderson’s epic fantasy saga with Oathbringer, the third instalment of the Stormlight Archives series.
Debuting at number one on both the New York Times Best Seller list and Audible’s own, Oathbringer is the latest instalment in Brandon Sanderson’s critically acclaimed Stormlight Archives series. Sanderson’s novels explore complex themes of good and evil, power and its abuse, rigid hierarchies and what makes us defy them. In Oathbringer, we enter the mind of Dalinar Kholin, Highprince of Alethkar and Shardbearer. He is an upright leader and devoted follower of the Alethi Codes of War, but there is more to Dalinar than meets the eye. Follow his story and the stories of other characters as they weave together, and get lost in the epic, expansive world of Roshar.
Narrated by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading, favourites of the author who also lent their voices to the first two audiobook instalments of the Stormlight Archives, Oathbringer is a thrilling, addictive listen. Kramer and Reading bring Roshar to life, keeping listeners on the edge of their seats, with narration of terrifying storms, hair-raising battles, and mind-bending magicks.
Can’t get enough of Brandon Sanderson? Dive straight into the fourth instalment of the Stormlight Archives adventures, Rhythm of War, or explore his Mistborn series.
Publisher's Summary
From the best-selling author who completed Robert Jordan's epic Wheel of Time series comes a new original creation that matches anything else in modern fantasy for epic scope, thrilling imagination, superb characters and sheer addictiveness.
Return to a planet swept by apocalyptic storms, a world tipping into war as aristocratic families move to control the shard blades and shard plates, ancient artefacts from a past civilisation that can win wars.
As the world tips into a war for control of the mythical artefacts of power made from Shard, characters are swept up into new dangers which will threaten their integrity and their lives.
Huge, ideas-filled, world-spanning fantasy from a master of the genre.

Amazing plot and character development. His writing inspires raw emotion. I haven't been this invested in a series since The Magician.

good
I am not the hugest fan of the changing perspectives as I want to settle into one persons story, but it adds flavour I suppose. Who am I kidding I loved this book and that was literally the only criticism I have and it's personal preference. I love the book. I love how Brandon Sanderson writes characters. I love the story. I can barely contain my excitement for the next!

The story continues
Overall I found the book to link in well with the rest of the series. The main story arc was excellent and I really got into Dalinar's back story. The action scenes where well described. I'm also really enjoying having the two narators. This has given it so much more depth.
