Publisher's Summary
"I've found the only thing I can control is how well I tell the story and follow the truth.... The truth will always lead you to a good place." Truman Wiley used to report news stories around the world, but now the troubling headlines are his own. He’s out of work and out of touch with his family, but nothing keeps him awake at night more than his son's failing heart. With hospital bills mounting faster than Truman can gamble his life savings, it seems there’s no way out... until his estranged wife throws him a lifeline - the chance to write the story of a death row inmate willing to donate his heart to Truman’s son. As the execution clock ticks, Truman uncovers disturbing evidence that may point to a different killer. For his son to live, must an innocent man die?
As Truman’s investigation escalates, he’s forced to face his failures and make a choice that will change his life, his family, and the destinies of two men forever.

Fantastic book!
Would you listen to Not in the Heart again? Why?
Definitely.....in a year or two. It reminded me to not judge people by what I see. It was heartwarming, a who done it, and just a beautiful book.
Which scene was your favorite?
I don't want to give anything away. I'll just say it was the last scene that took place in the governor's mansion.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was interesting enough, but I prefer to stretch out and savor the really good books.
Any additional comments?
I'm not sure if this was classified under Christian fiction or not. It did have Christians in it, but did not read as "religious". If you aren't a believer, please don't let that stop you from getting this book. You won't be offended nor disappointed,

Amazing
Loved this book. The author pulls you through the storyline as you feel for this family and their trials. while the main character struggles between saving a man on death row which means dearth for his critically ill son. the twist in the end is not what I expected.

Not in the Heart
Great book. Loved it. Worth the read.
So comforting, in the knowing that we are imperfect.
Done humorously. God gets the glory and it's so subtly put into perspective in this book.

Thrillingly Inspirational
Few authors read their own work well. I simply couldn't go to sleep until this page-turner was done. No sordid language or compromising ouches here. Riviting, moving, real and unapologetically God-honoring. I sought it out after War Room and was thrilled! I am ready for the next Chris Farby hit! The guy 's a word-smith with a sense of humor.

Great story about redemption and sacrifice
What made the experience of listening to Not in the Heart the most enjoyable?
It had unexpected twists and kept me guessing about what would be uncovered next.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Not in the Heart?
The unexpected ending was my favorite part.
Which character – as performed by Chris Fabry – was your favorite?
The main character was performed well and his voice had just the right amount of skepticism and believability.
Who was the most memorable character of Not in the Heart and why?
The main character was the most memorable because he changed the most throughout the story.
Any additional comments?
The gambling addiction of the main character was depressing and made it a little harder for me to identify with him or empathize with him. On the other hand, it was a moving example of a self centered, messed up individual who found forgiveness and redemption.

I really liked this book!
It kept me listening because I really enjoyed the main character. He was funny because he he made fun of himself and had great commentary on the people in his life. He struggled with God and faith, his questions were relatable to many people for sure. It was the right amount of sentimentality with suspense and mystery too. I like when the author narrates because I often wonder if narrators get it right. This is my first Chris Fabry book, I’m sure I will read or listen to more!

Narration is painful
I barely made it past the few first chapters. Know nothing of the story, so don't want to rate that, but the narration? I just couldn't continue...

Worth reading again and again
I read this book when it first came out several years ago. I remember how much I enjoyed it back then.
What I had forgotten were the many unexpected twists and turns the book takes. But I also have to say that I have read other "Christian" books where the characters were one dimensional and the plot very predictable. None of that is true with this book. These are real people and I found myself rooting for the main character right up to the end.
One final note and that's the narrator and the narration. I have listened to several books that Chris Fabry has narrated and with each book he does an excellent job and I can envision every character while I listened to the book
