Publisher's Summary

From Book 1: What impact would it have when everything suddenly faded to black?

For Mia, a crowded subway ride changes her entire life. Retreating to the wilderness helps her cope with a world that is suddenly too loud, too turbulent.

Her existence safely contained to the small cottage on the lake, she is unprepared for the neighbor who moves across the bay.

A career-ending injury has Jared permanently benched. His reputation as The Enforcer won’t survive the unanticipated responsibilities awaiting him.

Away from the public eye, he adjust to his new reality, under the quiet observation of the intriguing hermit on the other side of the water.

simplicity at its best

book one.
just love the way Freya takes daily events and sprinkles it with a tad of angst and steam.
not only does she keep the age bracket in the middle years and notblike most books where the H and h are always in their 20's.
I've listened to later books written by Freya and I do prefer her other books compared to this one. this has a few gaps on the usual tropes...like pregnancy questions, maturity of H's temper and the albeit slight angst if an ex.
the h suffers from a trauma but it's not written as intensely as I thought it would. I guess the plotline is not asking for it as it's a pretty cruisy story.
I'm not really into baby stories so I kinda lost a bit of eagerness.
the end started to wain and I felt it was starting to dissect the round and round plot.
the narration was ok. Tor I know from previous books and I'm not sure why he makes the other male voice sound light and almost feminine. Charley is new and I didn't like the other female voices she used, it made the women sound fairy and airy which I don't think they are.
