Andy's story wasn't meant to turn out this way. Living out of a suitcase in his best friends' spare room, waiting for his career as a stand-up comedian to finally take off, he struggles to process the life-ruining end of his relationship with the only woman he's ever truly loved. Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
PREPARE TO BE HOOKED: Nailbiting suspense from the addictive number one million-copy bestselling author.
Read by Nicola Walker (Unforgotten, The Split, Last Tango in Halifax) and Louise Brealey (Sherlock, Lockwood & Co.), alongside a full cast, this breath-taking audiobook includes original music and a gripping soundscape, which immerses you in the production and leaves your spine tingling.
Celebrating her 45th birthday at her local pub, popular podcaster Alix Summers crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie, it turns out, is also celebrating her 45th birthday. They are, in fact, birthday twins.
A few days later, Alix and Josie bump into each other again, this time outside Alix's children's school. Josie has been listening to Alix's podcasts and thinks she might be an interesting subject for her series. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life.
Josie's life appears to be strange and complicated, and although Alix finds her unsettling, she can't quite resist the temptation to keep making the podcast, which you'll hear, fully produced, throughout this audiobook.
Slowly Alix starts to realise that Josie has been hiding some very dark secrets, and before she knows it Josie has inveigled her way into Alix's life - and into her home.
But, as quickly as she arrived, Josie disappears. Only then does Alix discover that Josie has left a terrible and terrifying legacy in her wake, and that Alix has become the subject of her own true crime podcast, her life and her family's lives under mortal threat.
Who is Josie Fair? And what has she done?
This audiobook includes additional performances from: Jenny Walser, Kristin Atherton, Tom Judd, Ayesha Antoine, Elliot Fitzpatrick, Alix Dunmore, Dominic Thorburn, and Lisa Jewell herself.

The ending was obvious from a long way out
I was initially enthralled with this story, but it was easy to guess "whodunnit" from maybe 2/3 of the way through the story and I didn't like the way the story ended.
The narration was really good and it was nice having multiple narrators rather than having just the one person trying to put on different accents for each character.

Wasn't keen on this one
I've read 2 other books by the writer. They both had interesting personalities with thought out reasons and stories. They had a bit of unrealism to them, and ended a bit too 'and then everybody clapped!'-like, but I got through them and enjoyed the trip and mystery.
This one isn't winning me over, at all. The characters are entirely unrealistic, and it's a slog to get through. There's constant throw backs from the future, teasing that something will surely happen soon TM, but I'm not sticking around for it.
I havn't finished it, and this is not my usual genre, so take my review with a grain of salt

Another gripping read from Lisa Jewell
Lisa Jewell has written another gripping book that keeps you listening to uncover the full story. I thought the audiobook version was a perfect way to convey this story with the podcast and other extracts - I’m not sure how well this works in the written version, it’s like the book was made for audio or visual telling. The narration was excellent too.

Amazing!
Great storyline. Outstanding performance. Wholeheartedly recommend. Binged it over two sessions. Hooked from page one.

Compelling Read
Finished over two days and really enjoyed it. The narration was spot on and so were the production values with the podcast element. Will look forward to seeing the TV version.

Such a Disappointment!
Narrator excellent. I should probably stop there. I have loved everything the author has written but Oh! Such a poor read! Such character development. No empathy development. Unsatisfactory and totally predictable ending. Sad!

Wow
This is probably one of the best books I’ve ever listened to, had me totally gripped from the beginning, amazing characters, fabulous narration, loved the sound effects absolutely unputdownable.

Not terrible…..
The slow and predictable unfolding of a laboured story line with paper thin characters was certainly not “thrilling”.

I could not stop listening- just brilliant!
Lisa Jewel never, ever disappoints but I think with this book she may have surpassed herself. The production of this audiobook was the best I’ve ever heard. It was so well done. This story had me hooked from the very first chapter to the very end credits. So many twists and turns. Great story, glad I listened to the audiobook because it was so well done. Definitely my favourite book of the year.
