Vital investigation and pursuit of truth!

Important reading for anyone looking for an evidence-based review of feminist claims. Hoff Sommers is thorough and honest.

Read this book for a return to fairness, evidence-based reason and a common humanity, where men and women cooperate.

Utterly fascinating, prescient, seminal.

No book I have read has given more greater insight into contemporary political ethics expressed on campus, in the workplace, and in the offices of our state than this one. What I find staggering is that this book was written in 1993 and, with astonishing prescience, have me huge insights into the political ethics of the university campus where I worked from 2012 to 2019.
I must also commend Ms Hoff Sommers in giving me cause to delight in the type of clear-headed fair-minded feminism she represents. If all who spoke in the name of feminism spoke as she does, we would all be converts to the cause.
This book is also beautifully read by Ms Underwood in dulcet tones. I devoured this book in just a few days.

Courageous, and critical.

Early in the book Christina Hoff Sommers is confronted by a friend who worries that her (Christina's) work will provide fuel for the right wing and their idiocy. After reading this, it becomes quite clear that it is not Christina's work that provides fuel for the right wing bon fire, but the narrative over truth approach of misguided activists. Thank Christina Hoff Sommers. Wonderful work, as always.

Sure, if you want facts to support your existing feelings

I would love to hear what Sommers thinks now about America re-criminalising abortion (something she passes over briefly in chapter 3 as a success in ‘true’ feminism). Love her to reflect on the lack of women in leadership… still… despite the enormous amount of women graduating compared to men. I’m not surprised that all of the positive reviews have been written by men, classic. I was genuinely interested to hear what the author had to say, however I was very disappointed in a very white, American, hetero, binary centric position and one that is out of date. It is able to provide some interesting findings in the first 10 minutes which undermine very specific articles and quoted facts but does not look at the movement as a whole. Doesn’t consider worldwide statistics about gender equality, let alone equity (a distinction she misuses throughout). Really forced myself through this to make sure my view was consistent throughout. If you agree that it’s good to hear a variety of views, read it to know what the otherside are saying. My positive takeaway is ‘check your facts’, which I agree with, but could have been dealt with in one article.
