Publisher's Summary

Psychopath. No sooner is the word out than images of murderers, suicide bombers and gangsters flash across our minds. But unlike their box-office counterparts, not all psychopaths are violent or even criminal. In fact they are fearless, confident, ruthless and focused - qualities tailor-made for success in twenty-first-century society.

In this groundbreaking adventure into the world of psychopaths, renowned psychologist Kevin Dutton reveals a shocking truth: psychopaths have something to teach us.

Critic Reviews

" The Wisdom of Psychopaths is a surprising, absorbing, and perceptive book...I found it altogether fascinating." (Philip Pullman)
"Dutton tackles an elusive, important and much neglected aspect of the mind; our personality. He presents some highly original insights and does so in a provocative and humorous style." (V. S. Ramachandran, author of The Tell-Tale Brain)

Awful narration ruins book

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the narrator had been different. Especially if he'd not insisted on doing (lame) accents whenever he read a quotation.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kevin Dutton again?

Hard to tell. I can barely get through this book, and the narration is so distractingly bad that I can't tell if the book itself is good.

Would you be willing to try another one of David Timson’s performances?

Never.

Excellent audiobook

Solid book, great use of research and fantastic narration. Interesting theme that takes the reader off on many paths, then manages to tie everything together and provoke thought and debate.

Route to the psychopath’s mind

I think every one going to the University should read this (or in this case have it read to them) to get a glimpse of how to deal with a Psychopath.
Very insightful and at times entertaining.
David Timson is the best narrator that I have heard. David makes this book a marvellous rollercoaster, sometimes he is reading it to you, most of the time he is talking to you.

This is not a good book... Sorry

I read Kevin Duttons other book"flipnosis" and loved it. One thing that seemed odd though was that he kept going off topic (persuasion) to talk about psychopaths.
I could see the loose connection between good persuaders I guess but he was obsessed.

Seeing this book I thought "brilliant... a structured book based solely on what he's passionate about".

What I actually got was a long, unstructured ramble with less actual content than flipnosis.

Honestly couldn't recommend Flipnosis more (print version) but you can skip this one.

Sorry
