Valuable

The important knowledge given in this book is what will help us evolve to the next level of humanity. Understanding the function of our emotions gives us the courage to feel and heal. The vocabulary used will help you develop a friendship with search engines and provide an adult education.

Excellent look at the impact of trauma

I was a bit skeptical about this book to start with but after having read it I can say it is one of the best books on Trauma that I have come across.

Know thy body... know thyself.

I am no academic... and so tired of the multiple theories on ‘think better do better’ ideas or that ‘lie on a couch’ magically fixes the inner you. As for what I term “multiple dead men’s theories”, can’t all differ so much yet all be so renowned that closes me down from wanting to read on.

By comparison this I found brilliant, engaging me from the beginning through recounting his personal experience re his accident, responses, how different “first aiders” meaning well by their aura, words or actions either allowed him to feel comforted, or not.

Papers backed up not by theory alone, rather how a patient responded verbally, physically. How doing so in a safe space investigate their body reactions, emotions in relation to an event, situation. And likewise the reinforcement from Peters earlier accident, responses over the course of his healing.

Most importantly Man is part of the animal kingdom & thus under a variety of circumstances, often instinctively to what feels right to the individual at the time. This area I personally found intriguing. As too the body-mind connection, the role of emotion, awareness, consciousness, as too , rationale.

Personally I enjoyed the whole book, examples & self awareness exercises.

Additionally I enjoyed various theories. How they came about. How their protégés refined or diverted in another direction. Wished I had read this, rather than attending some of my lecturers drone on. Just goes to show, interest opens minds enabling curiosity to explore, even ones own challenging moments. Depending on approach.

A great treasure to refer in the future re exercises, reasons.

Anyone who wants to be more aware why they do the things they do.Certainly during lockdown. External turmoil, inner balance can be found through this read.

Incredibly healing

Learning to heal my mental health somatically has been the greatest gift I’ve been given. There’s something incredibly eye opening and healing about this text, like a best kept secret. Incredible read and invaluable to my life experience.
