Why rely on drugs and surgery to cure you of life-threatening disease when the right decisions can prevent you from falling ill to begin with?

How Not to Die gives effective, scientifically proven nutritional advice to prevent our biggest killers - heart disease, breast cancer, prostate cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes - and reveals the astounding health benefits that simple dietary choices can provide.

Based on the very latest scientific research, How Not to Die examines each of the most common diseases, chapter by chapter, to reveal what, how and why different foods affect us and how increasing our consumption of certain foods and avoiding others can dramatically reduce our risk of falling sick and even reverse the effects of disease.

With emphasis on individual family health history and acknowledging that everyone needs something different, Dr Michael Greger offers practical dietary advice to help you make valuable decisions about your diet in order to live a longer, healthier life.

To much pseudo science

The major criticism i have of this book is that if a medical study only includes 10 people then the data is too poor to draw a conclusion from.

I feel like the authors have drawn the conclusion (don't eat meat) and then just spent there days searching for information of ANY standard to support his theory. If you are search for an objective and fact based summary of the best knowledge out there you have come to the wrong place.

There is some great information in here, but the author repeatedly blows his credibility with silly data. Could have been an amazing book!

An excellent debate of both sides of the fence

Michael provides excellent pro and con examples for every chapter as well as any possible cause and effect examples.. any debate or argument you could raise he is one step ahead and explains everything. this book is an amazing investment for your health and there is no gimmicks or selling.. just natural food to feed the body and soul.

Oversold vegan agenda

It’s a shame this author has oversold his agenda to hate all animal products. I’m sure there are many good facts in this book, however, to sell his message he quotes extreme circumstances and not “the normal”. Example, not all meat is covered in urine and faeces germs and not all pigs are raised in 6feet square pens. This creates mistrust for me now I am not sure what his real facts and exaggerated points are.
A fairer and less bias opinion backed by real facts would create more trust in the content for me. I am left uncertain of what to believe.
Also, most farmers I know care deeply about the well being of their animals from paddock to plate and are not the bullies this book depicts.

food for thought

I struggled through this one from time to time, with all the talk of death in the first section, & nutrition information that was at times contrary to what i have learned from other sources. Still, it's good (if not confusing and overwhelming) to get alternate information on the 'facts', & i will continue to endeavour to learn more.

Enlightening and reinforcing

This was an easy to believe narrative of facts and scientific results evidence from an unbiased perspective. When it comes to chicken, it may feel a little excessive aversion, but in fact, it is about the human processes and flawed ways of breeding and handling poultry which makes chicken a not so good option.

I made drastic changes on my diet and had my wife and two kids accompany me into the journey since more than 5 years ago, although I had some personal experience and heaps of websites, magazines, articles, online courses, scientific publications, nutritionist consultations and chats on what, what for, when, and how often to eat in my knowledge assets, I found the content of this book extremely valuable.

Worthy to be listened or read from the beginning to the very end and, even to be revisited on any section you want to clarify to take it into practice.

Great Read!

Th audiobook is so informative, Dr. Greger backs up his claims wirh countless studies. Food preparation techniques are also shared. I like how he reads. It is great his philosophy of devolving the profits from the book to charity. He deserves a donation to fund his not for profit website nutrition.org!
