Publisher's Summary

The first nine months of Donald Trump's term were stormy, outrageous - and absolutely mesmerising. Now, thanks to his deep access to the West Wing, best-selling author Michael Wolff tells the riveting story of how Trump launched a tenure as volatile and fiery as the man himself.

In this explosive audiobook, Wolff provides a wealth of new details about the chaos in the Oval Office. Among the revelations:

  • What President Trump's staff really thinks of him
  • What inspired Trump to claim he was wiretapped by President Obama
  • Why FBI director James Comey was really fired
  • Why chief strategist Steve Bannon and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner couldn't be in the same room
  • Who is really directing the Trump administration's strategy in the wake of Bannon's firing
  • What the secret to communicating with Trump is
  • What the Trump administration has in common with the movie The Producers

Never before has a presidency so divided the American people. Brilliantly reported and astoundingly fresh, Michael Wolff's Fire and Fury shows us how and why Donald Trump has become the king of discord and disunion.

    "Steve Bannon's Revenge!!!"

I liked the first half of the book. For me, it was entertaining notwithstanding the fact that it did not have any significant new revelations about Trump administration which had not been exposed beforehand. However, in the second half, especially toward the end of the book, Steve Bannon became the central figure, and the book was mostly concerned with his rage over his rivals. Sometimes even it seems that the book is kind of personal revenge by Bannon against Trump and his family, which could be because, in this period, the author had been accompanying the Bannon's gang. Whatever the reason was, it should be said that although there are many reasons for criticising the Trump's administration, there is no virtue in doing so from the Steve Bannon's (an alt-right politician) perspective. Furthermore, some themes like the animosity between Bannon and Trump's family, or the rivalries between different personalities and factions within the Trump administration were repeated again and again, which made those parts boring from my point of view. I would give the first half three stars but to the whole book, considering the second half, I gave two stars. Finally, it worth to write that in this book, the name of another book ("The Best and the Brightest") was mentioned. I became curious and bought that book too, and started reading it. From my point of view, the comparison between "The Best and the Brightest" and this book would demonstrate the difference between a good book ("The Best and the Brightest") and a mediocre one ("Fire and Fury").

"FACT OR FICTION...THAT'S NOT THE POINT"

Firstly, I enjoyed the book. I felt angry, sad, I laughed out loud so many times I lost count.
Many say it is a work of fiction, everyone will have an opinion and so they should. It is not hard to tell where a storyline has been "created to fill in gaps" and as such it is not trying to stand up as a "tell all factual guide and 100% accurate" piece. BUT!
There is so much there we DO know to be fact. So much DIRECTLY LINKED to specific people that it clearly the words of those mentioned. And so much that shows what a joke the situation is.
A great deal of the book reflects on Steve Bannon and his relationships with the Trumps, not just Don senior....VERY INTERESTING!
The writing style may not be to everyone's taste, but that is purely subjective. If you buy the audio book it is brilliantly read!

WORTH THE READ, WORTH THE MONEY, GREAT FUN, DISTURBING WHERE THE FACTS ARE EVIDENT. No matter what you think of the Orange man or the author, it is worth your time!

"perfect narrator for content, great narrative pace"

In the tradition of Thompson's The Great Shark Hunt this book lends a damning and enjoyable narrative to the unraveling of a cruel national nightmare. As a result, the sane among us may have as much fun as Sarah Sanders in the press pit as the whole world marches collectively to hell.

    "A cracking read"

A book that will probably date quickly but nonetheless very interesting, enjoyable and entertaining. It made me feel as though I was reading history (albeit a very weird one) as well as living it (as a citizen of the world). Fascinating and illusion shattering book.

An extraordinarily insight into the world's most ludicrous political figure and the fools, friends and family who have fought hard to save him from his own stupidity. The portrait of the chief political aid, Steve Bannon, and his excruciating relationship with Trump provides the drama of this tragie-comedy. A must read!

    "Great timing, great narration"

I’m impressed how quickly this became available. In fact it’s a big readily why I am giving a strong rating overall, as I suspect this kind of book would be like old bread if made available much later. Holster Graham’s pace and delivery fits well the vernacular style of this book.

"A tale of running the White House (Asylum)"

This is a compelling read for anyone looking to understand possible reasons for the news flow from the White House during the first part of Trump’s term.

Minor inaccuracies have been pointed out by CNN and Trump states that Wolff only met him once at the White House. Clearly this a well research and sourced book that has come from Trump’s many detractors - both currently in the Administration and the mounting numbers that used to work for Trump. The single largest source appears to be Bannon. He seems to have been one inmate that escaped the asylum!

What is truly sad about this tale is that you can truly understand that there are many good intentioned, publicly minded and intelligent people with the walls of the most powerful government in the world that are simply trying to manage the unmanageable.

The stakes are high. I hope the US finds a way to connect with truth in governance and empathy in negotiation.

This book is a salutary tale in the perils of bad governance. I commend the author and recommend to those wishing to understand what not to do in leadership.

Fascinating tale of how the Trump administration works. Veracity can be at times a little bent, but in general, we get a sense that all of what is described happened in one way or another.

Every piece of reporting about what it is really like in the White House is entirely consistent with this gem of a book.
It's an absolute blockbuster and for the Trump White House of all people to have let this guy sit around there chatting to people sums up everything about the people who brought you 'firing Comey will make us heroes'.
Superb stuff and will form a critical piece of the historical narrative when people look back and ask how this could ever have happened in the most powerful nation on earth.

I work in media, and being in situations observing government, and there is a lot banter, some unintelligent and many intelligent...apart from suggestions of Russian involvement, the rest of this book just documents back room banter, nothing solid..poorly written, no balance, no opportunities for government to reply, one sided. "House of Cards"
What made the experience of listening to Fire and Fury the most enjoyable?

The narrator was perfect for this book.

What did you like best about this story?

It reads like the best episodes of "House of Cards".
This book is not a heavy weight political tome. It's a fast paced, entertaining read rather than a meticulously researched piece of journalism. However if only part of it is true, it doesn't seem to matter, Trump has made telling the truth irrelevant; the fact that he tried hard to stop it's release makes it so more believable. We've all seen the news, this book adds background and context to events we already know happened.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh and it made me afraid. Real people voted for this moron and those with the power to call time on his ridiculous presidency aren't doing it.

Provides insights & background on not just how Trump behaves & why but also on all the key players you see / have seen on the news & those behind the scenes including the Mercer family & R Murdoch plus the Billionaires Chorus who really pull the strings!

Fast paced but get it now because events are moving faster. 100% recommendation.

In 2016 it was said that non Trump supporters took him literally but not seriously and that his supporters took him seriously but not literally.

Similarly with this book it should likely be taken seriously but not entirely literally. It speaks of a more fundamental truth regarding the Trump presidency even if media sources have raised some questions regarding the authors facts and sources. (E.g.I wonder how he can retell small contemporaneous details from two different locations during the CIA speech when he can only have been at one site, if there at all.)

But - It just makes soo much sense. I have spent too much time reading articles and politico pieces about what Trump has done and this book plausible answers the question "why?"

Though one should be aware that Bannon seems to he the source or POV of much of the story and there is likely other views as well.

The performance is well done with emphasis for sarcasm and point of view. Great listen!

Fact or fiction? It does seem to lean towards fact based on the blast of contempt from Trump. The behaviour of the President since the books release seems to validate it's content. Sad that our worst thoughts on this presidency seem to be in line with this book. What's even more incredible is the impotence of the House of Representatives and Congress. Will those sitting by seemingly unwilling to stand up for the majority of Americans ever feel a sence of conscience? We all understand there are privileged and well remunerated jobs at stake. Come on America wake up and act responsibly.

The narration is really good, and the book well written. Far from dry and stuffy, but it does come across as authoritative; you think you know the worst of it from the tweets and news stories but Wolff has substantiated what he says by citing sources and re background material, this seems well researched, so it's far from gossip and lies. While it's shocking and a bit scary what is going on in the White House and in Trump's head, it's actually really sad that the position of President of the United States of America can be disrespected and treated so badly by its current incumbent.
