About this listen

Intuition is not some magical property that arises unbidden from the depths of our mind. It is a product of long hours and intelligent design, of meaningful work environments, and particular rules and principles. This audiobook shows us how we can hone our instinctive ability to know in an instant, helping us to bring out the best in our thinking and become better decision-makers in our homes, offices, and in everyday life. Just as he did with his revolutionary theory of the tipping point, Gladwell reveals how the power of blink could fundamentally transform our relationships - the way we consume, create and communicate, how we run our businesses, and even our societies. You'll never think about thinking in the same way again.©2005 Malcolm Gladwell (P)2005 Hachette Audio Career Success Decision-Making & Problem Solving Personal Development Personal Success Psychology Psychology & Mental Health Social Psychology & Interactions Career Inspiring Business Leadership

Critic Reviews

"Malcolm Gladwell goes deep into the reliability of hunches, instinct and instant, apparently irrational understandings. It appears that they are all aspects of an important survival mechanism, the one that makes us jump the right way when we stumble jay-walking as a lorry hurtles towards us. Full of fascinating theories about how science can be duped more often than our unsonscious minds can, Gladwell ranges from art fakes and gambling to marriages in jeopady and job interviews. I was instantly convinced." ( The Times)
"Brilliant." ( Observer)
"Astonishing." ( Daily Mail)
"Compelling." ( Evening Standard)

This book is excellent but i do feel and hope that the concepts of racism and discrimination are outdated or soon to be. Certainly in Australia where i live things are a bit different to the US. But still the findings of Malcolm Gladwell are brilliant & worth everyone reading/listening

A great read you can't help but learn and be fascinated by finding out what you know and understanding what you don't.

Thank you Mr, Gladwell. Your works have been just fantastic. This one, Blink, has been particularly striking to me, since, as a vision therapist, many of my patients are “spatially compressed,” or they succumb to “verbal override,” as you describe in this book — and they tend to to be chronically “tunnelled in.” These patients are too central (and not adequately peripheral) due to many factors, but notably including inadequate outdoor play, too much stress, and excessive screen time. Thank you for this work.

My Fourth Gladwell Audiobook!

Great insight into the human prejudice both positive and shocking. A must buy book of you want to reveal how you really perceive the world around you.

New perspective

Wonderful stories to illustrate how much we are unconsciously biased but down in a way that is explanatory and not judgemental on those that are not aware.

Great insights to guide you from prejudice

Truly informative, thought-provoking, highly enjoyable book. I will listen to it a few more times no doubt, as there is a lot to unpack.

Loved it start to finish - listening at x1.3 speed

such an interesting collection of stories in here. if you liked tipping point you'll love this one too. it is one of those audio books where you will sit in the car in the driveway to finish a chapter if you arrive home with 20 minutes to go.

interesting and engaging.

Anyone who resides in a city, works in an office or lives in a community could benefit from this knowledge. Knowing how humans naturally judge, both freely and with bias, is eye opening. Take control of your hidden judgement by understanding where it comes from, how it shows up, when it's a hindrance and when it's helpful.

Gladwell narrates the book he wrote, and I think this makes the connection between ideas and storylines seem stronger. One thing I didn't like was the recital of lists (the context was sharing how particular experiments and tests were conducted). It would be fine if you were looking at the words or data on a page, but it was disconnected and mildly irritating when shared aurally.

Minor niggle and maybe it bothered me because I'm a very strong visual thinker. Otherwise it's a great audiobook, fascinating subject matter, shared with enthusiasm by a person who wants to provoke new thoughts. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Seemed to finish in the blink of an eye
