'A first-rate modern thriller' Daily Mail

Set in the same world as Mick Herron's bestselling Slough House thrillers, Nobody Walks introduces JK Coe, a fledgling spy who's about to get a harsh lesson in the realities of life on Spook Street

Tom Bettany is working at a meat processing plant in France when he gets a voicemail telling him that his estranged 26-year-old son is dead - Liam Bettany fell from his London balcony, where he was smoking pot.
Now for the first time since he cut all ties years ago, Bettany returns home to London to find out the truth about his son's death. But more than a few people are interested to hear Bettany is back in town, from incarcerated mob bosses to those in the highest echelons of MI5. And some of them - like JK Coe - will have cause to regret his reappearance.

Bettany might have thought he'd left it all behind when he first skipped town, but nobody ever really walks away.

I want more! A tight plot and great characterisation answering some more details of the backstory of characters from the Slough House series.

Terrific

Well read and led me down a rip-roaring glimpse into the after-life or a former joe when recharged with a purpose, and a personal one at that. This title laid open the idea that heroes & villains are often blurred in stories about the intelligence services.

A good yarn

If you know anything of the Slow Horses stable of stories, this is effectively (or perhaps actually) a prequel, providing flesh to the bones of the story of the last waterproof operation, and a measured look at the legendary Ingrid Tearney. As always, the delivery by Sean Barrett is exemplary.

Essential back-story for Slough House tragics.

The intricacy of the plot is amazing, couldn’t put it down, as alway Sean Barrett narration was the best.

Never disappointed

Loved the set up, liked the characters, and the even the shoddy shifty ones, but the ending was an unresolved let down.

Everybody walked….to an unresolved ending
