Story
Adrian Ring is broken. He was wounded badly, and with dead loved ones on all sides, he makes a bold, life-changing decision; he’s leaving Bastion and its people to help the unknown second Trinity in Europe, where a terrible strain of faster, smarter undead still rampage in the streets. Clinging to what’s left of his tattered soul, he must assemble a small team to bring across the Atlantic aboard one of the few still-operational US Navy frigates. The battle ahead is ominous enough, but the journey might kill him before he sets foot on European soil.

Story
A sinister darkness has finally cast its long shadow across the world, and Adrian Ring now suspects he's at the center of the maelstrom. And he's not alone. Even overseas, his friend Kevin is somehow standing at his side. At Auburn Lake, Adrian and his adopted family finally understand that the dreams they have suffered since the end of the world are far more than restless imaginings. When a thousand mindless dead arrive holding books, can it be anything but a message from beyond the grave?
Publisher's Summary
“The apocalypse sucks, man.”
On June 23, 2010, in every country across the globe, the dead inexplicably awaken with murderous resolve. For the first days, Erin Locke - Lockey to her friends - survives alone as society collapses in England with shocking speed.
With her trademark snarky sense of humor, goofy insights, and can-do attitude, she chronicles her early adventures in a journal to keep her spirits high and sanity intact, until she befriends retired Royal Marine veteran Nate Carter, and the unlikely duo find themselves a place they can call home.
Her newfound security is threatened by an encounter with other survivors that ends in blood, and a vengeful hunt by the dead man’s brother begins. After skirmishes with the self-styled feudal lord of their new lawless existence, the pair learn they are the only chance of salvation for innocents enslaved by the aspiring warlord and are forced to act for more than their own survival.
There are no heroes left, so the captives’ only hope are one fast-talking, foul-mouthed woman and one deadly, middle-aged ex-marine.
Set in the world of Chris Philbrook’s best-selling zombie apocalypse, Adrian’s Undead Diary, No More Heroes opens the world up, illuminating the nightmare of the United Kingdom, and bringing its heroes into the light.
Edited by Chris Philbrook, with an introductory foreword by him as well.

Do not listen to this book in public!
I love zombie fiction, and really love Adrian's Undead Diary, so I thought I'd try this book from the AUD world. I have been laughing out loud and giving audible (get it... Audible?) groans. This series is going to be another one where I curse the author for not pumping out sequels fast enough.

A great new addition to the world of AUD
I think the title pretty much sums it up. I read the book when it released and absolutely loved it. Lockey is the perfect amount of action, sass, and potty human.
Danielle Cohen sounds exactly like how I imagined Lockey would sound and did an amazing job narrating.
it all combines into an amazing and entertaining experience and I can't wait for more.

Lockey the Amazing!
full disclosure: I received this book for free in exchange for an impartial review. I would have gladly paid full price for this book.
Lockey is an amazing character whom we watch grow up during the apocalypse, especially once she meets Nate- a retired military guy. She learns about herself and she learns to trust others. She is a smart-arse throughout. They are excellent foils for each other. Her family grows, zombies die. What more could you want in a zombie novel? The narrator is excellent. I must admit, as an American, some if the idioms were a bit foreign to me, but the gist of them was understood.
honestly, I can't wait for the next book!

Not what you expect from the opening!
This book starts with a hyperactive explosion of hilarity and profanity, and while the character of Lockey never loses that humour, as the book continues the character arcs of Erin and Nate really shine through. This isn't just as simple as a horror comedy; it's a human story of the fall told through the eyes of a young woman - possessed of a powerful sense of right and wrong - telling her story with her own unique style, and trying to hold on to the light in a world gone dark. It's a story of people trying to be human, in an inhuman world. Danielle's narration is amazing, really infusing Lockey with that energy she possesses, but also bringing all the supporting cast to life in the interactions. All the characters have depth, and could easily be real people and the characters genuinely evolve and change throughout the story, without ever losing who they were before.
This isn't your average zombie-virus-gore story . It's an action-comedy-horror-drama with the full range of emotion from laughter, to dread, to heartbreaking tragedy, all told through the eyes of one young woman who just wants the world to be better. Give it a shot, but expect profanity; Lockey is a product of her environment (coming from a hard background in the care system) so if you don't like hearing swear words.... you have been warned.

Fun zom-pocalypse adventure!
As gruesome as you would expect and as exciting as you would hope. With the main protagonist's unique (possibly slighty deranged) personality bringing some enjoyable levity to the tale!
I look forward to reading the next installment.

Fantastic from start to finish
From the character development to the plot, this was a brilliant story and well narrated. Genuinely funny, with interwoven heart rending moments and you feel an attachment to all characters.
Fits in extremely well into the current AUD universe but also stands on its own perfectly, I can't wait for the future installments. 10/10

Prepare to sit in your car on the drive!
I'm not usually a zompoc genre fan but along with AUD this is far from your standard book. I absolutely loved every minute. The characters are incredibly likeable and human. Lockey is just a wonderful creation with her take on situations being absolute genius. I have laughed loudly, cried, been horrified and couldn't wait for my next spare moment to put it on. Danielle is outstanding and book 2 has a credit saved already in preparation!

Loved it, loved it all!
OK, so... I do not do overboard book reviews, like ever, not like this when for me it is more then 5 Stars even. But this was SO GOOD! From the slang, to local references, to attitudes, it just hit the spot perfectly! I enjoyed it so much and hope this Series will continue, as being in this Adrian Universe but in the UK and with a female POV was just AWESOME! Truly a perfect book to finish of my reading year with... loved it, loved it all!

I dont usually write a review for a bookbut this one is definitely worth a listen. I like that the universe is bigger than just Adrian Ring. Lockey is funny, witty, charismatic and kind hearted dealing with not just zombies but the horrors that the Apocalypse will bring out in humans. Cannot wait for book 2 in the trilogy and hear more from the universe.

Absolutely superb - and it's got a Pug in it.
I really enjoyed this tale of Lockey's journey from a cocky, foul mouthed survivor of "That Day" making consistently bad decisions and describing them with breathtakingly profane and creative language to describe the true majesty of how badly her day is going. What I really liked about it though is how she progressed and matured through the story while still maintaining that "caffeine" streak that we're introduced to at the start of the book. As the story progresses we see Lockey grow and develop under the influence of her new mentor Nate (love that guy) and the plight of the other survivors and some of that "zany" gets rounded off her as the post apocalyptic world takes its toll on her spirit. The narration is also excellent although as a Brit I did have to increase the speed slightly to sound more natural to my ear as Lockey's accent is pretty similar to my own but I can see why Danielle would deliver the lines a little slower and clearer than a native would for a world audience - but it's easily fixed and didn't detract from the experience. From one chapter to the next I still couldn't decide which character I loved the most but I think I just slightly fell in love with "Death's Grandad" Nate. I'm on my second listen through now and it's startling how different Lockey is at the start of this book from how she is at the end, it's nice to see a character evolve so much in a single story arc - the over-caffeinated, adrenaline fuelled foul-mouthed rubber ball that starts the book is not the deeply emotional, resolute and competent young woman that ends it.
