Publisher's Summary

Emory: Will Grayson has always been an animal. Reckless, wild, and someone who was never bound by a single rule other than to do exactly what he wanted. There was no way his grandfather was going to risk him humiliating the family again.

Not that the last time was entirely his fault. He might've enjoyed backing me into corners in high school when no one was looking, so they wouldn't catch on that Mr. Popular actually wanted a piece of that quiet, little nerd he loved to torture so much, but...he could also be warm. And fierce in keeping me safe.

The truth is...he has a right to hate me. It's all my fault. And I regret nothing.

Will: I never minded being locked up. I learned a long time ago that being treated like an animal gives you permission to act like one. Their only mistake is believing anything I do is an accident. I can sit in this house with no internet, television, liquor, or girls, but I'll come out of here with something far more frightening to my enemies. A plan.

I just didn't expect one of my enemies to come to me. I can smell her hiding in the house. She's here. Blackchurch houses five prisoners. I'm only one of her problems.

Contains mature themes.

Nightfall by Penelope Douglas
Emory lived a life of pain and abuse, to protect her aging Grandmother. Will had been infatuated with Emory, the nerd, the girl with big glasses, and clothes that hide her body, she tried her utmost not to be seen. But there was so much more to her, and he wanted her. Emory rejected him at every turn. Until they spend a magical night together and then it all comes crashing down. Emory did what she thought she had to. And Will had vowed for revenge. While we all thought Will to be the one that was not calculated, in this story we see a different side to him, and how he planned to bring down the mighty. Included in that plan is Emory, except she lands up in Blackchurch, the place where the rich and famous send their sons to be taught the lesson to never disgrace the family. Emory finds herself in a terrible situation especially since she was the cause of Will's fall from grace. What are the chances he would forgive her? And are the men in Blackchurch setting her up for the ultimate fall For me personally, I found this story long-winded and a tad boring, with everything but the kitchen sink thrown in. The early days of Will and Emory were great, you feel the connection, but then Blackchurch happened, and it played out like a shock factor, to see how you could push the reader’s boundaries. I don’t have a problem with boundaries if they move the story along and it makes sense. But it didn’t make sense, the characters were not the same – something was off. If anything, I felt like the author just had fleeting thoughts and threw them all in and unfortunately it came across as a mess. There were parts that I really enjoyed and other parts that were so unnecessary and came across as filler. Overall, it was just an okay read for me, I really did expect more from Ms. Douglas on this one. I listened to this and the narrators did a superb job - I just was not wow on this story.

Trigger warnings for repeat abuse.

So many feelings of rejection and inadequacy. 😔 Things took a while to get interesting for me and I got a little lost with the past/present sequences, but omg so worth it for when things really got going. That wedding...❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
A couple MM scenes and a FF scene 🔥🔥🔥
I've noticed that whichever horseman the book is about, the deepest and darkest scenes are about or involve Damon, and the women are the true badasses of the series.

Calm and steady

I went into this book with anxious anticipation and ended it on a good note. I appreciated the dual timeline because it helped build and mold these characters in the present state.
This book started out strong and kept me on my toes with interest, but I got a little lost about 50% in. I just couldn’t quite follow where the story was taking me and although I do enjoy some hot sexy group action, there was one particular scene that just didn’t fit in. however, I did find my footing once the setting of the story landed back in Thunder Bay. I’m so glad I finished it off because that epilogue was well worth the 20 hours it took to get there. And once again, I am utterly excited to see if this is a start to a new series with the next gen kids of Thunder Bay.
I listened while reading along to the narration and was very much satisfied with both Tatiana and Jeremy’s work. Jeremy’s voice fit Will’s character to a T and is very pleasing to the ear *wink, wink*

Saving the best for last 🤍

**If you haven't read conclave before this I highly recommend that you do. It's much easier to navigate after reading that lol I did it backwards**

If you have read all the books up until now It should come as no surprise to you that Will is probably my favorite of Devil's Night guys😍 He is funny, sexy, and sweet. The perfect combination! He is the glue that holds everyone together ❤️🖤🤍🖤❤️
You get a glimpse of his sense of humor and all of the books.
You get his anger and passion in corrupt.
You get a little of the story behind his downward spiral and hideaway.
You got more awareness of him in kill switch.
And in nightfall...it all comes out!!
All of the Love. All of the Hate. And all of the Pain. But behind all of his emotions (and he has a bunch) You get down to the plans he has for what he wants!!
Emery Scott.
They're both stubborn, and this book will definitely take you on a roller coaster of emotions right through everything.
But, it's worth every single second!!

**This was probably my favorite out of the devil's night series so far. Corrupt of course holds that special place in my heart as the first book in the series. I love Micheal and Rika. And...they give you the lay of the land.
But Nightfall...this book is everything💓💓💓

LOL...hm don't do what I did.

I read this series out of order and I'm so confused. LOL. don't do it. But, I will need to listen them from the very beginning. I do believe the same narrators are for each book. I do like the story, but I got confused who the others were. anyways, I diagress.

Not the last book!!😈 Devils Night continues

OMG I have been waiting for this book 4 EVER! My expectations were pretty high and this book was satisfying but left a few loose ends with me.
First of all yay Rika and Michael finally get married and PD added a pretty cool surprise with that.
We also get some answers regarding the who, what and why however it was a little confusing to me.
What I’m going to do and suggest everyone to do is start with book 1 and relisten to the series. I think if I had done that I wouldn’t be so confused.
There are some loose ends. I wasn’t thrilled about not knowing what happened with Damon’s marriage to Winters sister? Nothing was really explained. Alex also gets a quasi HEA but it was only so-so satisfying. The most confusing thing to me was Black Church. Who developed it? Who ran it?
This book also ends with an addition to the group. A girl they find but there is no explanation on who she is just that Rika and Michael took her in. She seems to play a big role in the next book so hopefully we will get some answers then.

It can’t be over 😪😪

This entire series has been one of my favorites. I’m so sad it is over. Nightfall was amazing. The story was intense, but exactly what was expected for this series. I can only hope, pray, barter, steal, etc. that Penelope Douglas finds a way to keep these characters alive with new books.

Read Lord of the Flies?

This book is AMAZING. Heartache, redemption, abuse, recovery, addiction, love, hate, and much more... I’m a fan of Penelope Douglas’ work and she did not disappoint. The highs were out of this world and the lows were as deep as the earth’s crust. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I’m glad I took a chance on it. Tatiana’s performance is astonishing too. She really brings the character to life!

Loved It

Another great book by Penelope Douglas. All the books in the series have been brilliant. Look forward to reading her future books and hope she carries on with the new generation. Brilliant narration and hoping she continues her series with both Jeremy York and Tatiana Sokolov.
