Publisher's Summary

Following the astonishing The Abyss Beyond Dreams, Night Without Stars is the epic second and final part to Peter F. Hamilton's Chronicle of the Fallers.

The planet Bienvenido is in crisis. It has finally escaped the Void, emerging into regular space. But it's millions of light-years from Commonwealth assistance, and humans are battling the Fallers for control of their world. This rapacious adversary, evolved to destroy all sentient life, has infiltrated every level of human society - hijacking unwilling bodies so its citizens fear their leaders, friends and family.

A mysterious figure known as the Warrior Angel leads a desperate resistance. She's helped by forbidden Commonwealth technology, which gives her a crucial edge. But the government obstructs the Angel's efforts at every turn, blinded by prejudice and technophobia. As Fallers also prepare to attack from the skies, she might need to incite rebellion to fight this invasion. But the odds seem impossible.

Then astronaut Ry Evine uncovers one last hope. On a mission against the enemy, his spacecraft damages an unidentified vessel. This crash-lands on the planet, carrying unexpected cargo: a baby. This extraordinary Commonwealth child possesses knowledge that could save them all. But if the Fallers catch her, the people of Bienvenido will not survive.

The end of the commonwealth series

It is with some sadness that I complete this book. I have existed through the entire commonwealth saga and enjoyed it. Now I must move on. Oh well. goodbye Paula.

Amazing

This book is amazing. You can shut your eyes and easily go to another part of the universe. Characters are amazing and you really love some and really hate (in a good way) others.

A bit rushed for my opinion

I like all of the author's books, and this is a decent conclusion to the previous book.

but I fill it was stretched to much and concluded in a hurry.

Brilliant second part of the story

The narration is excellent, the narrator knows how to do Peter f Hamilton stories.
The story is so rich and detailed. The future technology and not so future technology fits in so well.

I kept wanting to hear more of the story, it was hard to pause or stop listening as I wanted to know what was going to happen.

Just a brilliant page turner or just another few minutes of listening to find out the next amazing part of the story.

Definitely one of my favorite books of all time.

The narrator did a fantastic job and he sounded like what I believe Nigel Sheldon would sound like in reality.

One of the best things you can listen to.

If you don't like grab space opera than Hamilton is not for you.
But if you do, the commonwealth series is possibly the best you can find. And this latest installment holds up wonderfully.
Enjoy.

A Great Adventure

Peter F Hamilton via his superb Commonwealth series of books has become one
of my favourite science fiction authors. I was blown away by the first part
of the Fallers Chronicle sub-series of books that form part of the
Commonwealth saga and eagerly awaited the final part. In short, Night
Without Stars was an absolutely superb conclusion to this sub-series and
every bit worth the wait.

What I absolutely love about these stories is how Hamilton really takes the
reader on a journey. We see so much and travel to so many places in the
pages of this story that I find that the reader is immersed into the varied
and vivid worlds so skilfully depicted.

Anyone reading this review who has read the previous books in this series
can rest assured that this one is a real cracker and ranks right up there
with Hamilton's best work. Night Without Stars is an epic rip-roaring
adventure that will keep you hooked right from the start. I was unable to
put this book down and finished it in 3 days flat which translates to 8 plus
hours a day of listening!

Narration is provided by John Lee who has voiced most of Hamilton's books
which is also a welcome consistency. lee's narration is either one you love
or hate. Fortunately, I like it and although it can sound a little odd in
the style of its delivery, Lee is superbly competent.

Night Without Stars was a compelling, thrilling, exciting and addictive
read and I would highly recommend it. My hope for the future is that
Hamilton decides to continue the Commonwealth series so we can meet many of
our favourite and much loved characters once more while throwing some new
nasties into the mix.

Superb storytelling, great performance

John Lee is my favourite narrator by far. I have, in the past, bought books purely on the strength of him reading them. He does a superb job, as usual.

Hamilton, similarly, ranks very highly in my author pantheon. He seems to have the ability to push my buttons and evoke an emotional response to his story. Again, he didn't let me down.

Excellent.

Very bad narration

What disappointed you about Night Without Stars?

The narrator is terrible. I was really looking forward to this book being released, and decided to try the audio book as opposed to the real thing or an eBook. However the narration is so poor I could only stand it for a couple hours before having to give up. Very disappointing.

john lee is awful

why is this guy still ruining audio books? this is now the 7th book set in this universe, and he has had a deep american accent for nigel for the first 6 books, and now suddenly he has a snooty british accent...? what? cant he remember he has read this character in 6 previous books? cant he even be bothered to go back and listen to a couple of minutes of the previous book in this series to hear his previous performance of the characters? hes now calling a-n-a "anna"... this guy is awful, he ruins all the hamilton books. please stop using this guy, this is awful, im now listening to the 7th book in a series and i cant relate to any character because theyre all being played completely differently.

garbage, i wont buy another john lee book. stop using this guy for goodness sake.
