Being born on the last day of the year has never done Eve Anderson any favors, but this year her birthday set off a series of rolling explosions rather than fireworks.

An affair with a married man just crashed and burned, her career is in tatters, and now there’s a phone call from her mother that she can’t ignore.

Eve is forced to slink back to the outback town she ditched at 18 and face the family she’s actively ignored since, the teenage love she never forgot, and the pub (or is that “family home”?—you say potato, I say “po-taa-to”!) that holds too many of her secrets.

Packed with heart, humor, and romance, get ready to fall in love with New Year’s Eve.

I read this book when it was first released. I adored it. I remember that the first couple of chapters piqued my interest and then bam…in no time I was addicted to Eve’s story and didn’t want to put the book down. I just loved this clever, funny and moving story. A year or so on, listening to the audiobook was an absolute delight. Once again I was addicted (listened to the whole thing across just one weekend). I was right there with the gang at the ‘imperial Hotel’ laughing, hoping (for Eve & Andy relationship to work), and being moved to tears in the final chapters. I just loved this book. I feel so happy to have ‘read’ it twice now. Xx

Sarah Toddman’s New Year’s Eve was an absolute delight from beginning to end, made even more special by its beautiful Queensland, Australia setting. The vivid descriptions captured the atmosphere so perfectly that you could almost feel the summer heat, hear the sounds of Rural life, and picture every scene unfolding naturally. It gave the story an authentic warmth and familiarity that made it even more engaging.

The story itself was beautifully written, filled with emotion, heart, and relatable moments, with characters that felt genuine and easy to connect with. Every emotional turn and heartfelt interaction drew me in further, making it difficult to stop listening.

What truly elevated this audiobook was the outstanding narration by Nina Nikolic. Her performance brought every character and emotion to life effortlessly. The pacing, expression, and delivery were flawless, adding even more depth and atmosphere to an already wonderful story. She captured the spirit of the Queensland setting beautifully and made the listening experience completely immersive.

This was more than just an audiobook — it was an experience. A beautifully written and expertly narrated story that stays with you long after the final chapter. Highly recommended for anyone who loves heartfelt storytelling with a strong sense of place.

A Beautifully Narrated Queensland real family.
