Publisher's Summary

The Fox Nation host, Fox News contributor, and social media master argues that it’s time to square your shoulders, stand your ground, and speak the truth.

The conventional wisdom is that we need more civility and fewer arguments. If you have a controversial option, keep it to yourself. Tomi Lahren could not disagree more. It’s a trick. The same people whining about tone will call you names and applaud those who threaten you. We don’t need safe spaces, and you shouldn’t be patient and wait out the bullying. In Never Play Dead, Lahren encourages all Americans, especially women, to find their voice and speak out. She skewers the hypocrisy of the self-esteem movement that has made people afraid to stand up for themselves.

Wherever Lahren goes, the number one question she gets isn’t about politics. It’s about her confidence in herself, her beliefs, and who she is. Never Play Dead not only answers this question but helps you learn how to stand your ground, discover how resilient you are, and find your fearless side. In this audiobook, she offers the antidote to all that: worry less about who might offend and focus on who you might inspire. In the long run, you will never regret being forceful when the truth is on your side.

Lahren worked her way out of South Dakota to television fame in LA, surviving social isolation, a truly terrible boyfriend, awful workplaces, and getting fired in front of a million haters. Along the way, she was tempted to keep quiet, but she never did. Now, she calls out the comment trolls, the political-correctness police, the terminally jealous, and the ever-escalating victim culture that tells you all your failures are because of the system (and therefore there’s nothing you can do about it). Whether you’ve been told you’re not good enough by parents, lovers, frenemies, bad bosses, or social media, it’s time to take Lahren’s advice and fight back.

It’s better to lose friends and followers than to lose yourself. The truth is, you may find more people who agree with you than you think. It’s time to shed your fear. With Never Play Dead, she inspires you to stand up - and shows you how.

Enjoyed listening to this book while I ran

Just hearing this book motivated me to be more confident in myself. Tomi’s motto is “Do no harm, but don’t take any shit” She is kind to everyone and shows maturity when faced with bullying but she stands her ground. She’s raw and honest and admits her flaws & mistakes. I’ve always admired her blunt straight forward talk but there were a couple things she spoke about that I don’t agree with her on, like abortion. Over all, I felt it was a book where she shares her life story, defends herself and encourages you to stand for what you believe in no matter how many haters hate.

Final thoughts: READ THIS NOW.

Tomi is only a few months older than me. I remember the first time I saw her on television, and watched in awe as her confidence, intelligence, and love for AMERICANS oozed out of her. This book is a must-read for any and all Americans, especially if you are finding it hard to express your views and opinions to your friends. This book is filled with inspiration for all, and as long as you are willing to actually shut your mouth, listen instead of worrying if someone is *right* or *wrong*, and keep your mind and heart open, you’ll learn a few things. Feminists, blacks, whites, men, women, gays, lesbians, ANYONE will gain value from this book. If all of your opinions of Tomi came from other people or any source other than her own story, give her the chance to show you just how strong, resilient, and amazing she is. I hope I get the pleasure of meeting you here in NYC someday, Tomi. xo

Disappointed

I am a conservative. Not exactly a fan of the one word description of myself, but think that’s the only term needed to state my review. I was initially a fan. I’m not in total agreement of Tomi’s beliefs and that’s ok (even before her book) I’m disappointed bc she claims to want to be an influence for young girls. As a mom of a 12 yo girl, I wanted to share this book with, I now choose not to. Tomi uses profanity throughout the book. I realize my daughter hears all of that in the real world but as a parent, I don’t want to encourage it. So this isn’t a children’s book, but she certainly states her desire to be an influence to a younger generation. She could choose to be classier. I’m disappointed bc while Tomi reads her own book....She sounds like a crazy, angry person defending herself through the entire book. I’ve heard her speak and know she is passionate, this is more than that. Maybe if I had read it myself, instead of purchasing via Audible, I could have a better opinion of the book. But I didn’t. I’m sure she is a great person, she makes sure to say so throughout the book.

You'd think she survived D-day

this book is basically the ramblings of a very young girl who thinks her struggles are much greater than they are. I feel for her and recognize that she's a very nice person but it's really hard to sympathize. although I agree with nearly all of her political beliefs, I often don't agree with how she arrives at her conclusions. her life is thoroughly uninteresting and her experiences are minimal. however I think she is an extremely important political voice and I want to support her so I do not regret buying the book. her explanation of the Glenn Beck situation was the best part.

Not a conservative but loved it!

I wanted to listen because I admire what she has done with her career, although I don’t agree with most of her politics (I’m more libertarian than liberal though). I am glad I listened, it was super inspiring and wasn’t too political. 5 stars!

Where will you be in 25 years?

This book is great to hear, Tomi exposes her personal side, her thoughts and her pains and shows how she grew from them and didn't let anything hold her back. She does not take for granted when things are going well and gets stronger from the setbacks she may have. Well worth listening to and taking what lessons from her into your own life and developing your own ideas.

Good Book

I like it a lot she really gets to the heart of what we need to do in this country. She relates it to her life and does a great job of it
