About this listen

Winner of three Gold & two Silver Medals in international book competitions . . .

What does a scruffy mechanic, a deaf Italian, and a hot flight attendant have in common?

Each of these men accidentally fell in love.

Cupid smacked them right in their hot little tushes, and the rest is history.

Along the way, they also found a family of men who support and love each other like no other.

Across five novels, Author Casey Morales’s easy style gives you funny, self-deprecating humor that will have you laughing out loud, yet is authentic enough to also make you cry (in the very best way).

These stories also include a wonderful found family, hurt men receiving comfort, beautiful coming out, loving men adopting a child, seven amazing HEAs, nerds and jocks falling in love, and a hot cop who smiles way too much.

Each of these stories has something which elevates it from a good story to something special. Parts where I laughed out loud and others where I was sobbing. Dan does an amazing job narrating and Joel always adds something unique.

I have enjoyed this series, well except for Joel Leslie's fake french accent. However, it says that it is books 1-7, but there are only 5 books in it. So where are the other 2?

Where is book 6 and 7

Loved the whole series but the last book stole my heart. Buckeye not only rounded out the series but you could tell was written from a place of an experience lived. I am happy with the way Noahs story ended as it felt natural and real well done Casey on a great series and and excellent narrator choice for all books.

Well written

Sadly I didn’t enjoy listening to this box set and didn’t finish it. Maybe just not my type of books. I just couldn’t get into it. I think just male narrator doesn’t help.

The Nashville Spicy Box Set contains the first five gay romances in a series centred on Nashville. Five different couples find love including a Republican congressman and his campaign manager (#1 Winning his Vote), a cute police officer and a hunky mechanic (#2 Wrenched), a deaf Italian immigrant and a partyboy mechanic (#3 I Hear You), a nerdy financial whizz and a closeted minor league baseball player (#4 The Batter’s Box), and a child psychiatrist and a minor league baseball player (#5 Buckeye). There’s strong chemistry between each couple with above-average steam (hence the ‘spicy’ series title) but none of the stories are overwhelmed by the steamy scenes.

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire series: Casey Morales was a new author to me and I loved his writing style, the stories, the heat level, and strongly connected characters. I really appreciated that, despite all the HEAs, the characters didn’t always get everything they wanted and Casey left some loose ends untied—it seemed more realistic that way. There are some more books in the series (#6 A Nashville Spicy Christmas, #7 National Singles Day) but these aren’t available on audio (yet🤞). 🎧 Dan Levy has a lovely deep voice that really suits the characters and he narrates the entire series superbly (with Joel Leslie adding one character’s dialogue in #5 Buckeye). Fingers crossed Dan gets to narrate the final two books!

Fabulous sweet & steamy series with great guys!

I was attracted to these stories because the first one was about politics and they were written by Casey Morales. A fantastic box set of stories, all with loose connection to Nashville. There are only 5 stories in this box set, not the 7 advertised. Not sure why.

Winning His Vote: GOP candidate David and gay political operative Joe find themselves attracted to each other during the campaign for David to become Governor of Tennessee. The thought that a gay man could stand as a republican and be successful in a place like backward Tennessee was impossible from the start, and to see the depths to which his opponent stoops during the campaign just feels really true. Sad isn't it, but that is politics in the US.

Wrenched: Having met Sam in the first book, this was really a pivot as we get to see him as more than just a side piece. Miguel is a cop and has great depth and is fantastic with Sam. Secondary characters fill in the rest with each quirky character filling out the story. For me this was a different experience because usually the crime being solved is at the centre of the story, but in this one it hovers along beside, always there, but not the central focus. Quite refreshing.

I Hear You: This time the story follows Tyler, who works with Sam at the auto shop. He meets Gabe who is deaf. This is sort of a redemption story for party animal Tyler as he learns there is more to life, and love, than drug fuelled hookups. Add two adorable pups and this story is a joy. This deserves an extra because narrator Dan Levy who gives such a remarkable performance by creating a nuanced performance and 'voice' for Gabe. I was amazed and in awe of the way he helped express Gabe's world through the words. Remarkable

Batters Box: This one is about baseball, a game I am not familiar with as it is not really played in my part of the world. That said, the simple connections between those characters who appeared in previous novels and the way the story is passed on is such a great storytelling device. Nate is a deeply in the closet (because of his job, not his own self-doubt) baseball player who is trying to make it to the major league. Nate is a maths genius who is his grandmothers grandson in likability and compassion. When they meet, they spark immediately and as the story unfolds they develop a great relationship. All good stuff.

Buckeye: Another baseball story which follows Nick from the last book as he is traded out of the city to another team. Casey premises this story with a story about his sister who was a foster parent, which set the scene for the ranch and for the character of 8 year old non-verbal Ethan. Nick clicks with Ethan immediately and the boy slowly opens up and starts to talk again. Nick also meets Andre, the French psychiatrist who works with the troubled kids at the ranch. Nick and Andre are an odd couple at first, but they grow into the perfect pair as the story moves on. This heartfelt story shines among this series.

Throughout this box set, Dan Levy's performance is sublime, and as mentioned above a special nod to his voicing of the deaf Gabe. In Buckeye he was joined by Joel Lesley who voiced Andre. I did find the swapping back and forth quite annoying, and while Joel is well regarded and I have listened to him many times before, this is not his best work.

A Great collection of stories (but only 5, not 7)
