Spannend geschrieben ist dieser Bericht über die letzten Jahre des Kaisers der Franzosen. Die Biographie setzt ein mit der Abdankung Napoleons 1815 und seiner Verbannung auf die kleine Mittelmeerinsel Elba. Freilich: Die Autoren sind keine modernen Historiographen. Vielmehr wurden die Texte 1901 veröffentlicht, rund 30 Jahre nach der deutschen Reichsgründung und unter der Ägide des Kaisers Wilhelm II. Es dürfte reizvoll sein aufzuspüren, an welchen Stellen man das der Biographie anmerkt.
