Publisher's Summary

Kevin Keegan is one of the greatest players in English football history. Throughout his career as a player and manager he was famed for his style on the pitch and his passion for the game, which he shared with his fans.

In My Life in Football, Keegan tells the story of his life, from the streets of Doncaster to signing for Liverpool under Bill Shankly, where he won three First Division titles, two UEFA Cups, a European Cup and the FA Cup before moving to Hamburg, where he won the Bundasliga as well as the Ballon d'Or twice.

After retiring, Keegan enjoyed a legendary five-year spell as manager at Newcastle United, during which the club was promoted to the Premier League and then finished runners up in the top flight, not once but twice.

In My Life in Football, Keegan tells the full story of the glorious highs but also the pain of managing England and his unhappy return to Newcastle for a short-lived second tenure.

Brilliant, funny, passionate, deeply moving and incredibly honest, My Life in Football is the full story of an incredible journey from miner's son to being crowned 'King Kev' by his adoring fans.

This audiobook includes a bonus-feature interview with the author, Kevin Keegan.

Fire the narrator!

Love King Kev, but man, that narrator gots to go! I’m really having to slog through this audio book, with the narrator’s drab voice threatening to put me to sleep! There are a couple of cool stories in the book too, but the guy goes through it like, “Nothing to see here everybody, move on...”

Would have been way better if Kevin Keegan himself had narrated the book.

Throwback to my happiest football memories

This wonderful book took me back to the happiest memories I have as a Newcastle fan and some of the best times I enjoyed with my dad. A hero of my dad's as a player and a hero of us both as a manager. I can now appreciate much more fully Kevin achievements before my time and decisions which I couldn't understand on occasion. The book confirms why we all loved keegan, a charismatic. passionate man who wears his heart on his sleve. I only whish he'd narrated the audio book himself (no slight against the narrator, who is very good). Kevin, i wish you all the best in your retirement. Howay the lads!

Fascinating story of Kevin's adventures

I was in 2 minds whether to go for this audiobook or not. Thought it might be a tad boring but I was wrong.

Kevin's story is really interesting and a lot happened over his 40 years involvement in football. His managerial career and stories were great to hear about as well as his playing days, especially at Hamburg. The 2x Newcastle periods as manager were polar opposites to each other. He came across some interesting and unbelievable characters during his time under the Ashley regime.

Kevin seems to be a great guy with excellent morals. Shame he is no longer in the game

I was so sad when the book finished.

my first audio book.

Very enjoyable to read. Being just a bit younger the Keegan, I could relate to his early years stories.

Love it (Sorry KK)

Kevin Keegan is one of the great British sports stars of the past 50 years.
Spirited, competitive, extremely talented on the pitch and in the dugout, his is a fascinating story. In recent years, though, I think his achievements have been overlooked and, maybe, history hasn't looked kindly on his career as a manager, especially with England. However, I think his record is impressive and in this book he takes the listener through all of the highs and lows of his remarkable career. You understand why he made some controversial decisions and he gives the background to them. He didn't win anything as a manager, but he developed an exciting and attacking style of play at every one of his clubs. It's sad that following his second stint as Newcastle United manager, he has decided to hang up his boots. I can't blame him, but maybe there will be a time in the future when he feels he can return to club management.
This book is a great listen and I recommend it to all football fans. There's more to it than a lifetime spent kicking a ball...there's a lifetime of hard work, resilience and tenacity.

King Kev is back!

A great book, ahead of his time in regards to fitness and being able to read the game. I also believe he is a great manager, fantastic, exciting football. With the right players, he could still manage England, under a reformed FA, a great motivational man which is half the battle.

A man with integrity

Football could do with more people like Kevin Keegan , I feel sorry for the Newcastle fans who have had to endure directors who obviously don't care about the club. Rafa Benitez is also a great manager and probably would have already left if not for the fans.

Great book, inspirational person!

Just finished listening to Kevin Keegan's autobiography. A really interesting, inspiring person. I only remember seeing the end of his playing days, but loved watching the teams he managed, particularly that Newcastle team in the mid 1990s!
