Publisher's Summary

In the fall of 2021, Dr. Julie Ponesse saw her academic career of 20 years fall apart after she refused a Canadian university's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. This is her account of the battle and its aftermath, written with passion and intelligence.

But Dr. Ponesse's story travels beyond the personal and examines the ethical and philosophical dimensions of our pandemic response. If there is anyone out there who feels alone in the struggle to preserve personal choice and freedom, this audiobook offers some very human advice on how to move forward and makes it clear that your voice deserves to be heard.

This story needed to be told

If it were not for Dr Ponesse’s astuteness and critical decision to relate her personal ordeal in this book, standing in her truth about how we have dealt with the Covid-19 pandemic and how she became outcast for her ethical stance, who would believe this could happen to such a learned and conservative academic? Her personal and professional toll has been great for taking a different view to the mass formation. As a medical academic myself, I agree with Dr Ponesse’s intellectual premises, her clear arguments and rational discussion about the relative seriousness of this pandemic to how it has been managed to extremes. Her deep despair about the collateral damage to populations, such as children being unnecessarily vaccinated and the economic disaster for businesses locked down and the families they fed, resonates with me. For anyone who has not truly considered the ethical questions about informed consent to vaccination and jobs lost for making a rightful choice to not submit to these treatments, this book will provide abundant information and crucial evidence to help readjust your lens.
