Publisher's Summary

Ghost hunter Verity Long is overdue for a little R&R (rest and romance) with her boyfriend, Ellis, and a vintage train trip through the Tennessee mountains seems like just the ticket. The Sugarland Express carries history and nostalgia in every compartment, and Verity is determined to enjoy it - without ghostly interference. But the ghosts have other plans…

On a dark, desolate night nearly a century ago, the train was stranded in the mountains, and a young woman was found stabbed to death in her locked compartment. The murder was never solved, and a ghostly Belgian detective is still pursuing the case from the grave. To Verity’s dismay, all of the ghostly suspects are back. And when history repeats itself and a new murder mirrors the old, it’s up to Verity and her friends to discover which of the passengers - dead or alive - could be behind the murders before the killer strikes again.

Loved it

I really enjoy the Southern Ghost Hunter series. I loved the way the narrator brought the characters to life. It was easy to tell who was speaking. The story itself was interesting. There was a ghost mystery and a human one which kept you wondering until the end.

Entertaining

This is an entertaining and light cozy mystery. The plot is interesting and the characters engaging. I like Verity Long's character and how she is so optimistic. She and Ellis make a good couple and I enjoy the way they work together and the way he has excepted her peculiarities.

Train of Terror But Frankie's on the Case!

After a contretemps with her ex, Verity is thrilled when Ellis takes time off and they can enjoy a train holiday for two on the newly renovated Sugarland Express a first class traveling experience from the golden age of train travel.

Only her romantic getaway for two rapidly becomes six as first Frankie and his lady friend, Molly, join them which isn't so bad because the ghosts promise to entertain themselves with their own romantic trip. But, then Verity learns the train is owned by Ellis' mom and his brother, Beau, who are both traveling on the maiden trip.

Verity isn't given time to get too upset about that turn of events because the ghostly conductor warns that the renovated train is in peril because it was designed precisely like the ill-fated previous train when a murder in cabin nine and a deadly wreck destroyed the first train. Verity wants to wave this off until events start happening just like they had in the past including the murder. It was right out an Agatha Christie novel, she thought, as she, Ellis, and Frankie got after a killer in the past and in the present to save them all.

This was a fun, fall listen. I love Frankie's antics and it was great having him pretend to be an ace detective even as I got a few tense moments when Verity, Eliis, and the other trapped passengers realize they share a train with a murderer. The end was really exciting and the reveal was quite the twist.

I do love this series and I look forward to each new installment particularly with the fabulous Tavia Gilbert narrating these and giving voice to Verity, Frankie and all the other characters so well.

Squeeky voice

Love Angie Fox's stories but, the squeaky voice of the narrator was annoying. I don't think
Southern girls sound like that.

A Fun Escape!

Angie Fox has written a series that makes an adult feel like a kid again! I love all the characters in the southern spirits mystery series. The characters are well-developed and lovable. As a southern girl myself , Angie takes me back home with her vivid descriptions of life in Sugarland, Tennessee. Her writing reminds me a bit like Agatha Christie. She develops a believable story and keeps you guessing to the end. Keep them coming Angie!

Excellent story that keep you on your toes!

This book was excellent! There were so many twists and turns in the plot that I couldn't stop listening! It is well narrated (as usual) and very exciting. Each book in the series is better than the previous book. Just when I thought that the series couldn't get any better because it's already great, I'm treated to an even better story! Angie Fox is a superior writer!

Thank you Angie Fox

Thank you Angie Fox for writing this series. I love paranormal and mystery but I also love southern and sweet with a little bit of a love story going on. This series is perfect it touches on all of those things. I'm from Texas so I connect with the southern characters. I drive an hour each way to work and I get tired of the radio so I listen to audio books. These stories are some of my favorites.

#GhostlyObsession

Yes, I am obsessed with this series. This was a super little book. I love Ellis A bit more than I love Verity. This book was great because Verity wasn’t as much of a martyr as she normally is. I’m waiting for the series to continue... hurry it up Angie! #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes
