About this listen

When mystery novelist Hazel Martin receives a secretive letter from an old friend who suspects her relatives have murderous intentions, she packs her bags and heads to the country.

Tampered medications, symptoms of poisoning, and suspicious accidents all add up to attempted murder, and it's up to Hazel and her Siamese cat, Dickens, to sniff out the clues. But with a house full of relatives who all have motives, will Hazel be able to unmask the culprit before things turn deadly?

USA Today best-selling author Leighann Dobbs brings back the spirit of the golden age of mysteries in this classic whodunit set in the 1920s.

Flimsy plot, and some errors in class status and interactions. Narrator was OK. This was in the plus catalogue and I would have been disappointed if I used a credit on it.

Predictable and repetitive

Excellent story, plot etc. The narrator was amazing. Loved this. Would highly recommend & will look for more books ready by Alison.

I loathed the cat’s constant miaowing - most annoying! But storylines was ok - I probably won’t buy any books with the cat in it again

The reader has a clear voice with a lovely posh accent

A nice fun cosy mystery set in the 20’s. Hardly a challenge in terms of the ‘who done it’, but still a pleasant listen!

Predictable but fun!

With 3 hours left to go in this story I realised that I didn’t even care who did it! The story is unfortunately just so painfully slow, giving it up now there are so many others that are well worth the time.

Nothing stands out!

This American author ,like others I’ve attempted to read research the language and mores of the time poorly. I find this very irritating and could not continue listening.

Poor research
