Publisher's Summary

The next hand he deals you...may be your last.

A serial killer is loose on the streets of Manhattan. His victims appear to be total strangers. The only clue that links the crimes is the playing card left behind at each scene that hints at the next target.

The killer, known in the tabloids as The Dealer, is baiting the police into a deadly guessing game that has the city increasingly on edge. Following her instincts, the tenacious cop in charge of the case turns to an unlikely ally - Dylan Reinhart, a brilliant professor with a keen insight into the criminal mind whose book turned up in connection with the murders. As the tabloid frenzy over The Dealer reaches fever pitch, Dylan and Elizabeth must connect the clues to discover what the victims have in common before The Dealer runs through his entire deck.

great read and well read. didn't want it to end.

loved the main character of Dylan and his relationship was refreshing and real with his husband with no stereotypes. the story was pacey and twisty, and the other characters were interesting and even his female partner wasn't bad. Dylan says, "but that's a story for another time". I certainly hope so. The narrator was easy to listen to and distinctive for the characters. This was well worth my time and I'd definitely listen to more with this narrator and from this author.

Back on Track

I have found that some of JP's books have been not of his best recently, but this book was as good as any of his that I have read. I liked the main characters ad the narrator was was good too.

a bit bland and predictable

story was a bit samey with characters that weren't really developed. needed a bit more grit and characters with human flaws.

Patterson strikes it hot again!

Really enjoyed Murder Games and the new NY characters I'd love to see more from this 'partnership' and see how the family life goes.
The 'Murder Story' line was also great.
Another JP duo hit with great performance.

a good story but disgusted that it's a Gay couple

I can't believe James Patterson has written a book about a Gay couple! a sign of these immoral times that we live in
