Publisher's Summary

Can you love more than one person? Can you have multiple romantic partners without jealousy or cheating? Absolutely! Polyamorous people have been paving the way through trial and painful error. Now the new book More Than Two can help you find your own way. With completely new material and a fresh approach, Franklin Veaux and Eve Rickert wrote More Than Two to expand on and update the themes and ideas in the wildly popular polyamory website morethantwo.com.

From ancient Greece through the many dynasties of China and to current practices of nonmonogamy, people have openly engaged in multiple intimate relationships. Not until the late 20th century, however, was a word coined that encapsulated the practice, philosophies, edicts, and ethics: polyamory (poly = many + amore = love).

For Franklin Veaux, who has been polyamorous for his entire adult life, the emerging framework and subsequent vocabulary for his lifestyle was a light in the dark. Candidly sharing his experiences and thoughts online catapulted his website, morethantwo.com, among the first dedicated to the poly lifestyle, to one of the top-ranking on the subject.

In recent years, as more people have discovered polyamory as a legitimate and desirable option for how they conduct their relationships, Franklin and one of his partners, Eve Rickert, saw that there was a growing need for a comprehensive guide to the lifestyle. More Than Two is that guide.

Great listen! Basically some tried and tested rules for any ethical relationship. If only more people understood the ground rules of relationships we would all live much happier lives

Poly or not, you should read this.

This is one of the most amazing and insightful things I’ve ever read. It is as much about relationships of any kind as much as it is about polyamory. The authors and their friends have been explorers of love and relationships and they have much to tell us about ourselves. Even if you don’t want to be poly read it anyway cause you will be better for it and your loved ones will thank you. Thank you.

Must-read for anyone curious or living polyam

This book has been so very useful with my journey into polyamory. For those like me who weren't fully aware that this lifestyle was an option, and upon discovering it are filled with questions and uncertainty- this book is for you. Franklin and Eve explain their points well and pepper the book with real-life stories that illustrate the pitfalls and triumphs that can arise from living polyamorously. I'm currently listening to it for the second time and am so grateful to be able to have a firm (and ethical) foundation on which to base my relationships.

Great book. Deceptive description.

The analysis and advice on living an ethically polyamorous life are great, presented smoothly with relevant examples. The narration is also very well done, clear and easy to listen to. I subtract one star because when I buy a book advertised as "unabridged" I expect to receive the entire book; I do not expect a couple of dozen references to a Resources section that only exists "in the paper and e-dition versions of this book." Audible should either provide the missing section as a downloading addendum, as they have with other volumes, or refrain from claiming it to be the unabridged book.

Excellent, well researched

I was immensely impressed by this book. I have read it twice. My poly group is reading it now. The authors were thorough in their treatment of every subject. They offer us a theoretical framework on polyamory from which we can think about our lives and make wise choices for our own personal happiness. At the same time the book is warmly written as though we, readers, had stumbled upon them in a grocery store and this was our long, long conversation. Everyone should read it since the book contains much wisdom for all who want love regardless of what relationship mode you pursue.

A true game changer

Would you listen to More than Two again? Why?

Definitely. I've already listened it three times within a month. It has a lot to think about.

What was one of the most memorable moments of More than Two?

Relationships bill of rights really opened my mind to re-evaluate my relationships. Thoughts about veto were very profound. Best of all was the theme and encouragement to courage and trust throughout the book. This book has already been a game changer to my personal thinking about polyamory and has helped to mend a serious problem in my existing relationships.

What does Craig Beck bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Craig Beck is a true love to be listened. His reading is clear, punctuating and best of all funny. He really makes the jokes funny and I have to confess I laughed many times out loud while listening. This book wouldn't be the same without him.

Incredibly well written!

This book should be required reading for anybody considering polyamory. They do a great job of explaining what works, what doesn't, and more importantly why, without necessarily having an idealistic attitude towards relationships. I would have benefitted from reading this book sooner. It just does such a good job of clarifying how to create healthy, respectful, and loving relationships that all relationships would benefit from whether they are poly or not. Highly recommended!!!

brilliant book with valuable lessons.

this book is a wonderful resource for anyone trying to develop any kind of relationship. Although the main subject us polyamory., it seems this crucible of emotion that the authors have been through has served to highlight the lessons of social relationships for more than just the polyamorous, but for humanity. I would reccomend this book as a guide to treating everyone in your life better, and getting more out of all of your relationships.
However I can't ignore the guiding principles of polyamory itself, and how well presented they are here. If anyone has ever been curious about polyamory then here you will find an illuminating read. I dare to say this is the authoritative book on the subject.

Amazing book for anyone exploring or new to poly

I started with The Ethical Slut. A year and a half in I finally got to this book and realized I put the cart before the horse. Wish I would have had this in the beginning. I highly recommend it to anyone considering or new to polyamory.

Good guide, but for me not the best

Many hail this as The polyamory book, and it is a very good guide into polyamory. I found it to be a little too judgmental for those who prefer to practice more hierarchical polyamory. I liked Eve's approach more than Franklin's, though this is just my own preference. In total I do recommend the book, but at the same time I take advice from another good polyamory book and say this: take from it the parts that work for you. It's not a take it all or leave it kind of a thing.

Interesting, but contradictory

Polyamorous websites and forums indicate this to be the first book one should read when approaching polyamory: having started listening with very little knowledge of the topic, I can say it definitely taught me a lot about what it means, what to do, and what not to do. It does contain a few contradictions which I would have found interesting if they were explored a little bit more: poly people still need couple's counseling sometimes, but at the beginning of the book it says that monogamous people often have to go to counseling because of issues that wouldn't exist if the couple was polyamorous. An interesting listen overall.
