About this listen

More Perils of Motorcycling is a continued story of the most recent decade of my motorcycling travels across Australia, New Zealand, and the United States (US). The book includes a chapter which describes a month-long ride around Australia — 'Around Oz 2016' on a Harley Davidson 2011 Blackline motorcycle. This trip was solely undertaken to raise awareness of the genetic condition - Batten disease. This is a rare life-limiting neurodegenerative disease (a type of dementia), mostly impacting young children. The book occasionally refers to the brave families who have lost their child or children to Batten disease and this should be a consideration to the age of the listener.

Other motorcycle travels described in the book include travelling to New Zealand and three trips to Sturgis, South Dakota in the US. My adventures to the Kimberley region in the far north of Western Australia on two different BMW650cc motorcycles was an adventure. These and other stories showcase the comradery shared with fellow motorcyclists. They describe Australian 'mateship' at its very best, and I am very fortunate for these friendships.

Although my on-road motorcycles skills are only fairly average, they are far better than my off-road riding abilities. Even worse, are my mechanical capabilities. My terrible track record for blowing up motorcycle engines and gearboxes was described in my first novel The Perils of Motorcycling. With age and maturity, I now make a concerted effort to look after the machines which look after me. Motorcycling has played a major role in my life, but in particular, it is about the people who I have met along the way. These are our stories.
