Der Ermordete, das weiß Castorp, hatte sich als Informeller Mitarbeiter bei der Staatssicherheit verpflichtet. Zudem scheint der Fall auch mit einer Einbruchsserie in der Stadt zu tun zu haben. Und mit alten Geschichten. Sehr alten, sehr finsteren Geschichten - sie reichen zurück in die Zeit vor 1945.
