Every character provides genuine interest and just enough depth for a light fantasy romp. And as a foodie, I appreciate the recipies: they are all beginner friendly. But it's the simple exploration of how food brings people together, even when from cultures that traditionally war. Literally.
The story definitely feeds my love of slice of slice fiction, but has a plot that hooks you into its laid back pacing.
