Publisher's Summary

An existence spent being forced to kill others to satiate a Monster.

Where the only thing to look forward to was the blessed, if brief, period of time between paying that bribe.

Except that very same Monster is and isn’t Rene.

It just happened to live inside his own mind and force him to do what it wanted. Rather than being an actual Monster.

That was Rene’s entire life until a fateful day changed that.

A day that the career as a hitman for hire built on the Monster’s needs will end. Where Rene will be forced to atone for his actions. To be held accountable and judged.

Except the verdict is already long since passed and needs no deliberation.

His sentence was being sent hundreds of years into the past, into a different world even, where he must live a life for the betterment of others. Every action judged as it happens and weighed out against him.

But even this new idyllic life he’s been living in for 18 years is about to go off the rails and Rene will be forced back into a life lived in the underworld.

Armed with a few gifts granted to him by the one who judged him, gifts better suited to a fantasy about living in a video game, Rene has to maneuver his way back to his new life while using all the things he’d learned in his old one.

Except using those skills is a double-edged sword. If he’s not careful, he’ll end up right back where he started.

Dead and on his way to hell.

Warning and minor spoiler: This novel contains graphic violence, undefined relationships/harem, unconventional opinions/beliefs, and a hero who is as tactful as a dog at a cat show. Listen at your own risk.

Deliciously dark and humorous.

An absolutely deliciously dark Dexter like tale sprinkled liberally with humor and irony, well done sir, well done.

Monster's Mercy

What a bloody brilliant book William D Arand is one of the most talented and skilled author's I have enjoyed this book greatly. And with the voice acting talents and skills of Andrea Parsneau who makes the characters and world come alive with her narration. I got to say I'm hooked on the Bloopers and the end of this book.....

Hilarious

This book is great, but is made much better by Andrea Parsneau choosing to use Runner’s voice and mannerisms when reading off the ‘status’ windows. This book is one of my favorites already, but this addition makes me die laughing every time. Great performance, I love it a lot

Isekai LitRPG Novel

If you have ever seen a harem anime that is pretty much this. The protagonist is overpowered and wins multiple women’s affection with little to no consequence. The female characters have little to no actual role in the story other than their initial meetings. They are ultimately not even need it because the main protagonist is so overpowered. The title of the series, “MONSTER,” stems from a InterVoice that acts as a split personality or possible possession to the protagonist. This voice is cartoonishly homicidal and for no apparent reason later becomes more comedic relief. In all honesty The only redeeming virtue this product has is the voice actress who is very talented.

Good story and narration

Characters are really fun I especially enjoyed the monster aspect of his personality Also this author is good at writing harem in away that is not the main focus of the story and serves as comedic points in the plot if you’ve read or listened to other works by William D Arand you’ll like this to

Fantastic Amazing Best WDA novel Ever

This has to be the best antihero novel ever written and even has a LitRPG element that doesn’t overwhelm the story. Ms. Parsneau is at the top of her game with the voice characterization as well.

best narrator ever.. holy crap

my favorite audiobook narrator from now on. I will try to listen to everything she ever produces. The outtakes at the end were hilarious I'm still laughing. The book was good but made immeasurably better by the narration I will buy the next one if she is doing it :-)

Creepy way for Author to relive Rider

Uses weird plug in of little girls to try and make up for the weird relationship the author requires for his MCs. It is just annoying how much effort he puts into putting them in the way of the "story?" Started sort of sensible and interesting with a unique MC, then two girls and some side characters got added in with some weird stuff about kids and Rider was the MC again.

A refreshing reminder.

This story felt the most like a return to Arand's work in the Selfless Hero trilogy. Proof that he can return to a great MC, while maintaining the harem theme that he likes so much. I've struggled through some of the other work that he has set in this universe, just to stay in touch with the overall weave, but this one was a happy jaunt back to something I really enjoyed. Thanks William. I have faith again.

Bloopers should be required

Hilarious ending, but having listened to the bloopers chapter I'll now be disappointed in books without one!

I was not a fan.

The book lack the feeling that actions have consequences since the main character never really gets into trouble for anything he does. I mean even when a thing happens that seams like it is supposed to be consequences for his actions, it feels lackluster and I did not really care about it. Though it is brought up again it never felt like it actually mattered. The book holds your hand thru the entire thing and almost tells you: this Is how you are supposed to feel right now, instead of letting the characters speak for themselves. I found the “monster” very annoying and cringe but that is a more subjective criticism. Overall I am very surprised that I finished the book… It has a good premise but I find it poorly executed. This seams to be a unpopular opinion though since the book has gotten such good reviews.

Good Book

Read the book first then got a chance to buy audio version and I must admit this was the best! The story is great but the narrator brought it to life. Really enjoyed listening to the book. Must admit I was in stitches in spots with the way the narrator protrade the story. Well worth a listen.

For writing quality, probably his best work so far. Narration was good. Characters were fun. World was interesting. Harem elements were mercifully mostly muted.

Cant stop Laughing and Snickering

Monster's Mercy Audiobook is by far the best comical book I have listened to by far! Could not stop Laughing and snickering throughout! Monster and "Watcher" are the best characters imho. I want to say William keep on writing your best and also a shout out to Andrea Parsneau you have done this book wonders!
