Story
When planning for the future we often ask, “What will the economy be doing this time next year?” Or, “What will be different ten years from now?” But forecasting is hard. The important events that will shape the future are inherently unpredictable. Instead, we should be asking a different question: What will be the same ten years from now? What will be the same one hundred years from now? Knowledge of the things that never change is more useful, and more important, than an uncertain prediction of an unknowable future.

Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Publisher's Summary
'Time poor' is the catch-cry of our era, and yet end-of-life retirement means we have an average of two decades of feeling time rich to look forward to...when we're old. How arse-about is that?
But there is an alternative to working your butt off for decades and retiring when you're worn out: it's called financial independence, and it means being able to cover life's essentials and afford the luxuries you want without having to turn up to a job each day.
Imagine: the freedom and flexibility to work if, when and where you like, go travelling, spend time with family or start that business you've been dreaming of. And with enough time and a way to earn, it's achievable for most people through the power of passive income.
Lacey Filipich knows because she's done it herself - and has been teaching the strategies and steps for financial independence for a decade through her education company, Money School. Now, she'll teach you all her tried-and-true lessons for redesigning your personal finances to create the life you really want.
From maximising your income and cutting costs without big sacrifice, to property, shares and retirement funds, Money School explains exactly how to build a passive income that will completely change your life.
Take control of how you spend your time and money to make them work for you - and get on the fast track to being financially independent and time rich.

Beautifully clear, simple and enlightening
I listened to Lacey Filipich's new book Money School, and it was just what I needed to help me get started with my financial game plan. In some ways, you might say that the information wasn't altogether revolutionary - I'd heard a lot of it before. However, I really hadn't taken action before. The simple and clear process Lacey presents to strategically build a buffer and save and invest your way to financial freedom, delivered with her friendly, down to earth narration, was an enlightening experience. I now have a plan in place, and I can see my progress every month. I know exactly what to do to create the future I want. The book has moved me from feeling quite worried about my financial future to rather excited, actually.
If you're looking for a supportive and extremely knowledgeable friend who will give you the kick up the bum you need to get your financial sh!t together, this is the audio book for you! Highly recommend.

If your after a audio book similar to the barefoot give this one a go. Although the author isn't as restrictive as some of the plans laid out in the barefoot a book. I found this one to be equally good.

Down to earth demystification of money
My sister suggested this book to me to help inform, what I now know is FITR plan.
I found the content of this book a very good supplement to other similarly themed material that I read previously. I also learned a couple of things.
Content is serious but highly accessible I.e. in plain English and I will recommend this book to anyone wishing to start their learning on effective personal financial management.

Shocker
Pretty much summed up by these (slightly paraphrased) lines from the opening chapter: "I was able to do all these things because I'm super smart and dedicated but mostly lucky" and "my mum struggled and at the height of her career was ONLY earning $100k a year".
Zero perspective.
