Story
Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman sit across from each other every day...and they hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. Lucy can't understand Joshua's joyless, uptight approach to his job and refusal to smile. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy's overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and desire to be liked. Now they're up for the same promotion, and Lucy, usually a determined people pleaser, has had enough: it's time to take him down. But as the tension between Lucy and Joshua reaches its boiling point, it's clear that the real battle has only just begun....

Publisher's Summary
"Jackson’s characters and their heart-wrenching story linger long after the final page, urging readers to advocate for those who are disenfranchised and forgotten by society and the system." (Publishers Weekly, "An Anti-Racist Children's and YA Reading List")
From the critically acclaimed author of Allegedly, Tiffany D. Jackson, comes a gripping new novel about the mystery of one teenage girl’s disappearance and the traumatic effects of the truth.
Monday Charles is missing, and only Claudia seems to notice. Claudia and Monday have always been inseparable - more sisters than friends. So when Monday doesn’t turn up for the first day of school, Claudia’s worried.
When she doesn’t show for the second day, or second week, Claudia knows that something is wrong. Monday wouldn’t just leave her to endure tests and bullies alone. Not after last year’s rumors and not with her grades on the line. Now, Claudia needs her best - and only - friend more than ever. But Monday’s mother refuses to give Claudia a straight answer, and Monday’s sister April is even less help.
As Claudia digs deeper into her friend’s disappearance, she discovers that no one seems to remember the last time they saw Monday. How can a teenage girl just vanish without anyone noticing that she’s gone?

Suspenseful with twists!
Although the language is a bit gratuitous at times, and the references to sex acts and body parts make this an upper teen read, the story is riveting and the writing style is on point!

Wonderfully Heartbreaking!!!!
This book is tough on so many levels. reading this as a mother I was constantly infuriated. Im the type of mom that constantly worries about my children friends. If my child says something is wrong than something is wrong and I will get to the bottom of it. I wanted to reach in and shake so many people and ask them why the heck they weren't helping. This was such a good book though, I need this author to come out with ten more books asap. If you want to be wrecked even more than dive into the case out of Detroit that it is loosely based on.

4.5 Stars
I love that this novel highlights the injustices of missing black girls, but the time jumps confused me a bit and it wasn’t necessary. Claudia was a bit annoying with how clueless she was. The ending was not expected, but knowing the author and how ALLEGEDLY turned out, I should’ve expected the unexpected. Overall good book. Definitely worth a listen and recommendation.

Poetic... Heart-wrenching... Satisfying
I would like to thank Verysmartbrothas.com for suggesting this book as part of their 28 Black Authors in 28 days program. This book was suggested and the synopsis grabbed at me. This "fiction" really brought me close to the characters; so close that the tragedie(s) left me with a heavy heart. I've never felt that in a reading. The protagonist(s) felt like family. I had to keep reminding myself that this is a fiction. This mystery will definitely keep you up all-night until the complete end.

Astounding
So relatable...the love for one's childhood best friend. I can't believe I have been so moved by a novel written for young adults. It brought back so many emotions and reminded of how important it is to have that one somebody to stand with you through those rough adolescent years. I recommend that anyone reading just lean into it and remember that 12 to 14 - year - old your once were and likely still are deep down. Beautiful story.

Phenomenal
This is the second Tiffany D. Jackson book, I've purchased. I think its safe to say I am an official fan. I know this story, the real one it's based off. It happened in Detroit but I appreciate the voice she gave the characters and how she took a news story and turned it into an art. There's so much depth here, so many stories within a story. I'm very happy I stumbled upon this author.

Such a good read!
Oh my goodness! Such a good book. As a parent, educator, etc., this book was a reminder to stay observant and seek help when needed. The book was well-written and the audio performance enhanced the emotion. Definitely recommend this book.

I just can't with Jackson's stories.
Unlike others who've negatively reviewed the book, I did not find the timeline confusing, but like another reviewer mentioned, Jackson can drag a climax or plot reveal out like no other. It was beyond annoying and frustrating. I, like another reviewer, just fast forward to the end (I couldn't sit through 20 more chapters of is she or isn't she - I'm a truck driver btw, so that says a lot). I also don't like teenage angst stories, I just want to shake these characters, Jackson develops her characters really well and most realistically, that is why they frustrate me so!

great but bated the format
I liked the book a lot, it was an interesting story and extremely heartbreaking. however, the weird format made it really confusing at the end and when things happened etc was extremely weird. the plot was also a bit...random? it was also too long so it dragged on. I cant claim the author is a good writer, but her concepts and what she wants to say is unique. that's why I'm giving it 4 stars, but it was just lacking in a few places.
you can tell the narrator is young so I'm not being to harsh on her, she did a good job and I think she was a good choice for this book. the format may not fit for an audiobook and it may be less confusing as a physical book but the overall experience was good so if you're thinking of reading this and you want to listen to it I do recommend it
