Eigentlich wollte Frieda Olsen sich auf der Nordkap-Route an Bord der AIDAluna erholen, aber bereits beim ersten Landgang auf den Orkney-Inseln stirbt eine Passagierin. Was wie ein Unfall aussieht, entpuppt sich schnell als Mord und Kapitän Johannson bittet Frieda um Hilfe. Zwei weitere Leichen, ein längst vergessenes Verbrechen und zahlreiche Abgründe der menschlichen Seele bringen Frieda dem Täter gefährlich nah.
