  • Summary

  • Despite being published in 1851, Moby Dick appears at number 17 in The Guardian’s ‘The 100 best novels written in English’; a testament to its continued popularity. This dramatic adaptation by Audible member favourite Marty Ross stars David Morrissey as Captain Ahab who is determined to get his revenge on the one and only Moby Dick.

We join our narrator Ishmael and the crew of Pequod for its final voyage as Captain Ahab leads them in to dangerous waters on his quest to find and kill the whale who ate his leg: Moby Dick. As his determination grows and sacrifices are made the crew worry that his obsession has become unhealthy - but at what lengths will Captain Ahab go to in order to catch that whale?

Our ship, his sea

A noisy and dramatic performance that brings the story to life. I liked some characters portrayal more than others but it kept me engaged

It's Moby Dick I tell ya'!

This was an enjoyable telling of a well known tale in the style of radio theatre productions of old. Ahab..well he has more of a Texan drawl than a Nantucketer/ New England accent, but if you can get over that, its a tale entertainingly told.

Timeless

Thought it would be about a whale but it was so much more no wonder it's a classic. Struggles of culture and class on one level but loyalty and friendship intervening. A brave and insightful author.

Disappointed in this "classic"

Disappointed in this classic, I've never read the original. I know they were sailors but had a lot of gay references.
