A True Master Piece of Storytelling

A fantastical master piece of Storytelling from two giants of the genre. The plot builds and thickens as the triolgy progresses. The story is filled with intricate connecting threads as it cascades along in breathtaking suspence interwoven with romance, political intrigue , spy networks, adventure, great battles, tragedy and exuberant exaltation. The ending left me with a tear in my eye. I like reading a hard copy and I finished up purchasing three different publishers, one for each book in the series. Each publisher had its own merit, though Doubleday retained a good secondhand quality. I used Audible when suitable synching it with kindle to help find my place.

Could not capture my interest

after 3 chapters that really dragged I skipped to the end. I enjoyed the first and second in the series but found the last quarter of Servant hard going so not surprised this one didn't interest me from the start.

Great sendoff to Mara

Tania Rodrigues does an amazing job bringing Mara and her world to life. One of the most emotional endings to any but Magicians's end. 10/10

Finale in an epic trilogy

Mistress of the empire is the third book in the Empire trilogy by Janny Wurts and Raymond E Feist, two epic writers in my view. Mara’s enemies plot revenge against her and her family. Although Mara survives, some of her loved ones don’t. Her spymaster plays a key role in this book. While Mara travels to gain further alliances, her enemies grow and fear her change to the traditional ways. The way the story was written, the unravelling story, the battle to overcome the assembly, all come together in this grand finale. I absolutely loved this story and the clever way the book was written. I enjoyed the series, the way it was written, as well as the characters. The narrator was brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed her performance. I highly recommend this amazing trilogy.

I love the twisting turning plots and fullness

Characters are fully developed, the shadings of personality are complex just as each of us is. The plots has subtle twists and divergence just as you think you see the whole picture you realize that there is still more to consider. I have listened to it twice and know I will need to listen to the entire Rift War series again as it's going to be with a keener ear to put deeper nuances on some events. Such a pleasure. I would love to hear the series redone with a group of narrators for the various main characters and an overall narrator for sub characters and main story. Thanks awfully for such an awesome saga.

Faulty audiobook, but good narrator and story

Sadly this audiobook is faulty. A couple of places it skips back to play the same section again, as well as some audio quality problems

Regarded as a brilliant standalone!

I am not ashamed to say, I did not read the prequels to this Book 3 of the Empire Trilogy - Daughter of the Empire and Servant of the Empire. However, perhaps it's because I did not, that I found the Mistress of the Empire and the characters to be so unexpectedly fascinating and witty. Perhaps if I had read the other Books, I may not have been so frequently lost with the numerous names/characters, understood a little more of warring factions/houses and the true extent of the political and emotional turmoil experienced by the characters; I might have also appreciated the fantasy world so vividly described. Notwithstanding, because the authors possess such astounding skill and intellect, reflecting ever so often to events or issues that arose in the previous Books, I was able to absorb and thoroughly enjoy this Book 3, appreciating the different dynamics to the gripping tale; that of politics, altruism, economics (trade, commerce, slavery), war (fighting/action), culture ( rich, ingrained, different and competitive), romance, loss, loyalty, epic fantasy (featuring magic and mystical creatures), etc - this Book/Trilogy is so "all-encompassing", there's something to keep everyone engaged!!. I do not think reading the end of the Trilogy first will put me off reading the other Books, if anything, I'm now feeling compelled to start it from the beginning and will be excited to read the last Book again!!

Tanis Rodriguez is fantastic

She really brings this series to life. It's odd, the sample just doesn't do it justice. Fantastic story and I heartily recommend!

sublime

I've read every book written about the twin worlds of midkemia and kelewan, and loved them all. I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to the narration of these books, reliving the stories, the twists and turns of the plot. Ms Rodriguez had done a fantastic job of setting the tone and telling the stories of some of my most favourite characters in the whole series. thank you so much.

Wonderful conclusion

You always worry when a series comes to a conclusion that they will not end it the way that you have come to hope. However this conclusion works perfectly for me and I am very happy with how this ended.
