About this listen

"The central miracle asserted by Christians is the Incarnation. They say that God became Man. Every other miracle prepares the way for this, or results from this." This is the key statement of Miracles, in which C.S. Lewis shows that a Christian must not only accept but rejoice in miracles as a testimony of the unique personal involvement of God in His creation. Using his characteristic lucidity and wit to develop his argument, Lewis challenges the rationalists, agnostics, and deists on their own grounds and makes out an impressive case for the irrationality of their assumptions by positing: "Those who assume that miracles cannot happen are merely wasting their time by looking into the texts: we know in advance what results they will find for they have begun by begging the question." - from Miracles©1947 C. I really enjoyed the ideas that Lewis covers in the book. You often find yourself thinking ‘I’ve wondered about this my whole life!’
He uses a variety of admittedly imperfect analogies to explain his reasoning behind his beliefs, however, these don’t serve to explain actual mechanisms or coherent understandings. Instead, they present the idea in a way that allows your brain to digest and then get a picture of the concept. This is fine, apart from when the analogy breaks down, so does the argument, at least from a logical approach. I’d like to listen to it again to take notes, and sift through some of key points.

The thinking in the writings of this book is beyond my comprehension. It is easier for me to believe in miracles than try to understand why I do.Some illustrative examples I found were of great benefit to me. Someone else may find this book of more value than I did
