Publisher's Summary

It takes a minx to tempt a rogue.

Beautiful and feisty Henrietta Barrett has never followed the dictates of society. She manages her elderly guardian's estate, prefers to wear breeches rather than dresses, and answers to the unlikely name of Henry. But when her guardian passes away, her beloved home falls into the hands of a distant cousin.

And it takes a rogue to tame her.

William Dunford, London's most elusive bachelor, is stunned to learn that he's inherited property, a title, and a ward bent on making his first visit his last. Henry is determined to continue running the Cornwall estate without help from the handsome new lord, but Dunford is just as sure he can change things, starting with his wild young ward. But turning Henry into a lady makes her not only the darling of the town but an irresistible attraction to the man who thought he could never be tempted.

What were you thinking

The narrators interpretation of the main male character was so awful it hurt my ears to listen. It was only because I wanted to hear the story that I managed to get through the book. I love Julia Quinn. I have loved every single one of her books but I will never buy another audio book that ms Rayner does for Quinn. She maybe excellent in reading other books but it was a miserable experience like fingernails on a chalkboard.

This writer deserves a better narrator

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I really like this writer, and I wish I could give the audiobook a positive review. I kept listening for the things that I like about Julia Quinn-- the humor, the likable characters-- so I was able to get to the end, but it just wasn't enjoyable the way it was read.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I usually like most of the characters in Julia Quinn's books, and this one was no exception.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

There's a certain rhythm to Julia Quinn's books, but the narrator never seemed to find the beat. The voice she used for male characters was off-putting, too. I kept thinking I might get used to her style after a while, but it never came together for me.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yep. But if I could choose any of her books to make into a movie, I'd want that one to be "When He Was Wicked."

To much anger!

I love a good romance but prefer it with less fighting between our main characters. The beginning was great. I sure didn't help that the narrator had a high pitch voice that was driving me crazy haha. Also the narrator made the male voice very unattractive, had a hard time relating to him.

Good story, bad reader

I enjoyed the story very much. The only complaint I have is that the reader is very hard on the ear.

Great story

At first the narration for the male characters is a little offputting but as you get into the story it makes no difference! Well worth the listening.

The narrator destroyed a good book

What did you love best about Minx?

as usual Miss Quinn's stories are very entertaining and a joy to listen to as well as read. However, Lucy Rayner ruined this book with her horrible narration. Sorry, just telling the truth.

Spoilt by narration

Any additional comments?

This is my favourite Julia Quinn book so I was really excited when I saw it was to be released as an audiobook. Unfortunately it has been ruined by the narrator so much so that I will be returning it without finishing it. The main male character is meant to be fun loving with a sense of humour and instead sounds like a middle aged bore. I will be going back to reading it on my kindle.
