About this listen
Have you ever failed? Hit a roadblock that felt impossible at the time? As someone asking friends and family to believe in you while you try to build a business, have you ever felt overwhelmed or embarrassed, almost too scared to go forward but too ashamed to quit?
Learn how these author-entrepreneurs hit a wall, pivoted, built even stronger businesses, and now each has a million-dollar story, making a difference and changing lives. Best of all, they’ll tell you how you can pivot and profit, too, whether that’s through growing and monetizing Facebook groups, building and monetizing a podcast audience, being a military spouse who raises a strong family even during repeated deployments, creating your own TV channel, or some other approach!
In an era where the cycle of "strong economy" to "crashed economy", whether local or global, seems to be recurring with increasing frequency, discover how you can recession-proof your mindset, your skillset, and your business to write your own million-dollar story despite external forces.
©2020 Wolf Tide Publishing (P)2020 Jamie WolfSadly, the book was also laced with so many sales cliches about the authors' new "mission-driven" businesses (e.g. "love and abundance", "my calling", "God spoke to me", "helping your clients make investments in themselves", and you need to "be in service") that it felt like a broken record from the motivational conferences I'd been to (both in the US and in Australia). It felt inauthentic.
If the authors truly wanted to "serve" us listeners with this audiobook, they should have only mentioned their business/offering briefly, and then shown humility for the rest of the time. If listeners wanted to know more (and remember, we listeners are already motivated enough to pay to listen to this book), there's a high chance we'll look up the businesses anyway.
Final thought: Do the guests on Guy Raz's "How I Built This" podcast try and sell to that audience? No. Never. Those guests demonstrate humility and gratitude - and because their humility is so endearing, listeners look up their businesses afterwards and often buy their products/services.
Disclaimer: I appreciate the effort that went into producing this book, so I don't write this review lightly. (I don't recall the last time I ever wrote a negative review online - if I've ever even written one at all). But, I feel strongly that I don't want the next reader/listener to buy this unless they're given a heads up first, so expectations are clear, and they can make a balanced decision before their purchase.
Disappointing. A thinly-veiled sales tool.
