Get ready for the most unputdownable thriller of 2024, from no.1 bestselling author K. L. Slater
Saffy is waiting to go into a job interview when she receives a text message from her best friend, Leona:
Can’t speak . . . don’t text or call . . . please just come

As Saffy struggles to understand what is happening the phone screen changes:
This message was deleted.
Saffy races to Leona’s house, but when her friend answers the door, she insists everything's fine. She doesn't know anything about the message. Saffy can tell something’s not right, but after looking around the house, she can’t think of anything else she can do.
Six hours later, Saffy gets a knock on the door. It's the police. Leona is missing, with her young child. There's blood everywhere.
And Saffy was the last one to see them alive . . .

Great novel with lots of twists & turns! Loved this one & couldn't put it down because I needed to know what happened!

Hooked from the start!

The Narrator did a great job. Many twists in the story, I couldn't stop listening.

A great read

The main character Saffy is so unlikable, I really didn’t care much for her redemption arc. The book dragged on & the ending felt like it came a little out of nowhere, like they obviously led you to believe one thing & then had this sort of twist, but it was like okay cool who is this person? It felt disjointed. I don’t know, it was just fine.

It was fine, dragged on.

the narrator has a speech impediment that dropped letters on the end of sentences. once heard, it was hard to ignore, so instead of enjoying the book, I would continually find myself saying the word correctly. 😀
it was strange because the same word somewhere else in a sentence had its T said correctly, it was only at the end of the sentence, usually.
sorry if I have now mucked up others listening experience, but for me, it was extremely off putting with this lisp, or whatever it was.

it had a good, engaging storyline

I loved that the story kept surprising me by going places I didn't imagine. I was invested in the characters stories. I'm not used to the British accent which doesn't have as much expression as other languages. it was well read. Very clear. I enjoyed the book very much.

A story about a lie which has terrible consequences- a must read. Well written with excellent descriptions

Most engaging

Not a bad story but I think it could have been much shorter. Did go around and around in circles before a satisfying ending.

Friendships that go astray

One author you know is always reliably very good. A very well thought out complex suspenseful story narrated very well by Annabel Scholey. Many interesting characters that thankfully didn't confuse the plot and the story came together nicely.

Another good Slater
