Can’t speak . . . don’t text or call . . . please just come

As Saffy struggles to understand what is happening the phone screen changes:
This message was deleted.
Saffy races to Leona’s house, but when her friend answers the door, she insists everything's fine. She doesn't know anything about the message. Saffy can tell something’s not right, but after looking around the house, she can’t think of anything else she can do.
Six hours later, Saffy gets a knock on the door. It's the police. Leona is missing, with her young child. There's blood everywhere.
And Saffy was the last one to see them alive . . .

The main character was frustratingly unbelievable.

Perhaps my expectations were not appropriate. The storyline wasn’t too bad but my goodness the main character was incredibly hard work, completely unrealistic behaviours.

WOW Kate Slater does it again!

Each time I thought I had this story worked out, it would cleverly take a different direction. I really enjoyed the suspense and how clearly the plot came together, the conclusion in particular.
Narration was perfect.

** spoiler alert ** you won’t like the unsympathetic and heartless DI and DS.

Plot

It had a good plot compared to many other books. Liked the way loose ends were tied up.

Improbable tale

A bit of realism would be nice. Not evident here. Police are ridiculously slow and thick

A little drawn out

The story was a reasonable mystery although lots of repetition and too long for the content. I have much more respect for sensible policing to believe the storyline of stupidity put forward with the police in this story. That part wasn’t believable at all.

Great story poor narration

I enjoyed the story but the narrator was extremely annoying, I found it very distracting that she didn’t pronounce any words ending in S properly. It got to the point I didn’t want to listen anymore.

Twists were good, but a bit odd at the end

The story of as a good one, and there was many elements that led to various suspects. However the final explanation was a bit far fetched at times and really strained to understand the psyche of the villains. Interesting concept and well read with voices. I enjoy this author very much!
