Perfect novel with perfect narration
My all time favourite novel is brought to life with a wonderful narration. You can picture the scenes and characters in your mind. An absolute must for any history lovers, of course especially those who love medieval history.

unique historical fiction
this wasn't exactly what I was looking for and I fall just outside the target audience so take my review with a grain of salt. this is a strong feminist text detailing the year of one medieval woman. her life is hard, dreary, centres around her responsibilities to her children, husband and the village. i found it a little boring. i was looking for something akin to a rutherford novel or illuminating of history. and yes there are plenty of interesting tidbits but it wasn't quite enough to push this good/ok novel into a must read. more a feminist text than historical I think and nothing wrong with that just not my cup of tea today
