Publisher's Summary

Who is stalking Seffi Callard, the world’s most fashionable spiritualist medium – now a paranoid recluse at her father’s Cotswold home?

Her old mentor Marcus Bacton, editor of an ailing journal of the paranormal, sends his assistant Grayle Underhill to try to establish the truth, unaware that he’s thrusting them both into a nightmare.

Along with Bobby Maiden, a police detective whose approach to his job has been changed forever by a near-death experience, they find themselves in the path of a vicious career-criminal for whom getting rich is less important than never getting dead.

Edgy thriller

Kept me on my toes and on the edge of the seat. Story and narration excellent. As with his other books, Phil Rickman is addictive

Not Rickman's Best But Still Very Good

This is the second of the books in this series, I'm tempted to call it the Bobby Maiden series but the most interesting character in my opinion is Cindy Mars-Lewis, the cross dressing shaman who played a significant part in Cold Calling and will, according to the advance publicity, have a role in Night After Night.

Cindy is now working as a host on a national lottery show is snarky about the winners and makes some off the cuff comments about the fates of the winners that appear to come true. This brings him under media fire-- no light thing in the UK.

Meanwhile DI Bobby Maiden is being considered for promotion since his old boss was forced in retirement. But it appears that he is being framed for the death of a low level criminal. Grayle Underhill reappears as a reporter for, a magazine for those interested in occult experiences run by a grumpy retired school teacher.

Sean Barrett does the narration and he has thankfully toned down the New Jersey accent he gave Grayle in the first book-- seriously, she had been raised as the daughter of an academic with an international reputation who had lived and worked in New York before coming to England in search of her missing archaeologist sister. When he is on his own ground though with Welsh and English accents he is excellent and as the best narrators do, adds to the experience of the listener.

I've bought this book in paperback and Kindle so I knew what to expect when I started listening to it, but it kept me enthralled for most of New Years Day.

So, anyone who is listening, can we now have The Man in the Moss by Rickman in audio form soon please?

Phil Rickman's done it again

I thought this book was brilliant. It is one of his old ones which are much better than his newer books. Sean Barrett is a brilliant narrator

Started well, but tailed-off

This book started really strong and I was looking forward to getting into the story. But I lost touch with the plot somewhere along the way and never really got back into it after that.
It is a decent enough listen and the orator
is very good and so I have given it three stars.

If you like Phil Rickman you'll love Will Kingdom

This is the second book that I have listened to penned under the name of Will Kingdom and the suspense is electric, so much so that I could quite easily listen to the book from start to finish without a break.....if only I had the time! Anyone who like suspense with a touch of the supernatural couldn't fail to enjoy this book and the narrator is just fabulous. I've listened to quite a few books narrated by Sean and have found he simply brings all the characters to life, even the females.
I have given this book a full 5 stars as I feel it really deserves it. I would listen to this book again without hesitation.

Couldn't stop listening

I've enjoyed all of Phil Rickman's books. (I don't know why he writes ad Will Kingdom on this one.) This is another great story which manages to keep you hooked, offer a wide range of spooky and terrifying material, but not actually give you nightmares. The plot is complex and the characters varied and interesting.

Utterly absorbing

This is an excellent follow-on to The Cold Calling, with well-drawn characters both new and familiar (it's like catching up with old friends). There were some real horror moments where people you've followed through the first book are in deadly danger. The now-familiar voice of Seán Barrett is also to be welcomed, he's the perfect reader for Rickman's work.

Struggled with this one.

Am a great fan of Phil Rickman and really enjoy the audible telling. However I think as Will Kingdom it would have been better with a different narrator. The gentlemen when he is narrating Phil Rickman is brilliant, but not it’s this story.
