Voll uncool findet der 11-jährige Max den großen Wochenend-Einkaufsbummel mit seiner Mutter. Diese Samstage nerven! In seinem Auftrag stehlen drei schrille Hexen den Menschen ihre Musik, um die Welt grau und stumm zu machen. Auch Max wird von ihnen heimgesucht und verliert so die Zaubertrommel und seine Töne. Nur der rote Ton kann entkommen. Mit ihm zusammen versucht Max, die bunten Töne aus König Giers Burg zu befreien.
