The story was slow, but it was enjoyable and kept my interest. The narration was great, she's very good at doing different voices.


The random music was really annoying. Would be better without it, or at least make it quieter. Was hard to hear the narration when the music was playing.

I own the hardcopies of the whole trilogy and have read them, but the amount of personality in her voice as she reads really brings your imagination and the characters alive! This book, and the other two is and always will be one of my utter most favorite books! You enter into a society where decisions are made for you, and the whole time you are holding on for a rebellion.

Whilst I adore this story and its premise the narration often makes me cringe. The heroine sounds like a Disney Princess and Ky and Cassia's father sound monotone in moments that should contain emotion. I suppose this is to create greater variety in the voices but it doesn't work. Also they added music in some emotional parts that just made it so cheesy removing the sincerity present in the book. Overall i think this is better to read than to listen to. If you do choose to listen to it though, try to listen past the narration to the sentiment of the book.
