De elfjarige Mark gaat logeren bij zijn oom en tante. Als hij op een avond met zijn tante meegaat om de grutto's te observeren, ziet hij in het meer een monster te voorschijn komen. Hij schrikt zich rot en niemand gelooft hem als hij het vertelt. Met behulp van internet en een sagenboek gaat hij op zoek naar de waarheid.
