Publisher's Summary

Jack Reacher has no place to go and all the time in the world to get there, so a remote railroad stop with the curious name of Mother's Rest seems perfect for an aimless one-day stopover. He expects to find a lonely tombstone in a sea of nearly ripe wheat...but instead there is a woman waiting for a missing private investigator, a cryptic note about 200 deaths, and a small town full of silent, watchful people.

Reacher’s one-day stopover turns into an open-ended stay....

Fasten your seatbelt for another nail-biting ride from the kick-ass master of the thriller genre!

Very Dark and not the usual Jack Reacher

The story got darker and darker and i only persisted hoping is was not going to end the way it was heading. But in the end the story ended up n a very dark and disturbing place not what i was hoping for and i now regret listing to the end!!
I'm extremely disappointed at the story because this is not the Jack Reacher that i am use to.
I hope that any new books don't follow this book into such depravity

Great story but most characters just "props"

The concept and the "twists" were really interesting and there was a malboro man charm to the narrative that made it really easy to get caught up in. But once you realise all of the characters, especially the female lead, are thinly drawn and serve only to pose questions for the lead character to answer it all starts to feel a bit unsatisfying. The narrators voicing of the female lead made that even more pronounced

Is this really by Lee Childs?

While I i did enjoy this book, it is not a typical Jack Reacher novel and lacks Child's usual great descriptive paragraphs. There are also no details or mention shared about Jack Reacher's past. ..most unusual for a Lee Child Jack Reacher novel.

disappointing

building up to the climax the story was classic Jack Reacher but unfortunateley it all turned way too dark and not a storyline I would ever choose.

Slow story

I have listened to all of the jack reacher books in order and have found them fantastic until this one.

The story is very slain for the firth 3/4 but the last 1/4 is typical Reacher.

It was a bit of a marathon to get to the good parts. .

Not the best but up there

Being a Jack Reacher fan I am biased but I do thoroughly enjoy this book.

Will pollute your mind, don't go there.

What kind of sick mind comes up with these ideas? Your time on earth is limited - use it for something positive and useful, not this book.

Atypical Child’s performance

My first Reacher disappointment. Incoherent plot, disorganised, and predictable outcomes.
Jeff Harding’s performance is implacable as usual.
