Publisher's Summary

An epic mafia-romance trilogy that sets a new bar for just how dark a hero can get, from New York Times best-selling and Audie Award-winning author CD Reiss.

Some girls dream of marrying a prince, but I never imagined I’d be sold to a king.

Santino DiLustro.

The king. The monster. The keeper of secrets.

When he forced me to marry him, I cried for love I’d never know. When he locked me away, I cried for the freedom I lost forever. Every other tear I’ve shed is for my soul, because I’m falling for the devil himself.

This is the first book of three in a series.

❤️❤️ I’M BLOWN AWAY.. & IT’S GOING TO GET EPIC ❤️❤️

Ok, when you put CD Reiss’ name on a Mafia listen I’m greedily throwing my credit at Audible.. then I’m mentally doing gimme gimme hands and breaking my “don’t start a Trilogy until all books are out” rule. And, after binge-listening to Book 1, I know this Trilogy is going to be epic.

She came to America because she needed a second family.. now she’s a nineteen years old virgin in a Wedding dress she didn’t choose, trapped in a room she can’t get out of, trapped in a loveless marriage she was forced into and trapped in a Mafia King’s world she didn’t want or ask for. She was about to go on holiday before starting her adult life.. but now it’s been claimed by the ruthless beautiful Italian King. Now she’s living a lie, she’s been betrayed, she’s being kept from earth-shattering truths and powerful tightly-held secrets, she’s protected, in danger, sad, vengeful, attracted, conflicted and sheltered from learning the truth. Then comes the rules.. the disobeying.. the bloodshed.. the punishments that ignite.. and, after tears and bloodshed, comes an awakening of sexual desires, passionate kisses and sizzles. But, when the King wins his Queen, her walls will lay in ruin, her heart will be breached and her body will have been thoroughly claimed.. until... until.. the WTELF of a jaw-dropping CLIFFHANGER.

And then I cursed.. I swore.. I had to stop myself from throwing my phone at the wall with the sudden-death revelation and cliffhanger. Yes.. yes, I knew it was coming, yes I knew I could only blame one person - myself.. but come on, it’s my favourite genre right now. He exudes power, he’s beautiful, charismatic, possessive, alpha Mafia Kingpin anti-hero with all the answers and, through challenges, drama, angst and some much needed character growth if Violetta’s going to survive in his world, she must grow up fast, prepare for war and protect her heart.

Worth a credit? Oh yes definitely.. old school Mafia traditions, fantastic world-building, a blossoming tension-filled attraction, action-packed drama, heat.. oh I could go on and on.. basically, it has everything I was looking for and Ms Reiss delivered so so much more. The narration was mainly by done by Emma from Violetta’s POV and she was great as usual and there were just a few from Antonio with Santino’s POV and he was good too.

WOW

First let me start by saying this is the first time I've written a review. Normally I just hit the starts and keep it moving. but I absolutely loved this book. I was on the edge of my sit. The narration was so good. Emma Wilder never disappoints and Antonio Amato did an awesome job. I could feel her anger and his ruthlessness and passion. They gave CD Reiss's great writing life.

Meserizing

CD Reiss one again left me wowed and amazed...her emotionally rich writing style will evoke all the feels. You will feel Violetta's hope and devastation. Santino's power and raw intensity. The character development and well built plot will keep you intrigued and enthralled As the plot thickens there are more twists and storylines that keep you wondering. CD knows how to capture the reader’s attention and keep it there to the very end. I am looking forward to the next audiobook in this stunning.series. Emma Wilder and Antonio Amato delivered a breathtaking performance. They bring the characters and story to life from the pages to your ears. Definetly worth a credit!

Great start to a trilogy!

This is a great beginning to a new series. I love Santino until the reveal at the end. Now I don’t know how to feel except that I’m devastated for Violetta.

Emma Wilder’s performance was nothing short of incredible! Violetta’s desperate situation came across loud and clear in her performance. But WOW oh WOW! Her performance as Santino was superb! She has always been one of the best female narrator who have an awesome male voice BUT here she does a mafia boss with an Italian accent!! Swoon! I’m in love with her male voice all over again.

This is the first time I’ve listened to Antonio Amato, but oh man his deep baritone does it for me. He was the perfect Santino! Hopefully there will be more chapters from Santino’s POV in the next 2 books so we get more of Mr. Amato’s performance.

What a beginning .... Book 1 of 3

I don't know where to begin with this opinion. I went into this with an open mind, hoping that it lived up to the hype from some of my favorite bloggers. While I did not find it as stellar as most, it is a very solid, well written, well developed mafia story. I will most likely buy book 2 when it comes out in June because the cliff hanger .... I WANT TO KNOW WHY!!!! (no spoilers here).

Violetta is forced to marry a capo who has strong traditional ties to Italy. His 19 year old bride has been raised as an American and has a hard time adapting to her sudden marriage to a stranger, giving up the freedom she so enjoyed and generally being a teenager. The story unfolds as she learns the "why" of her situation.

The only problem I had with the story was that this 19 year old supposedly wanted to be dominated by her husband even though she is a virgin. How could she possibly know what kind of sex she likes without first experiencing the act? IMO it was on the verge of unbelievable. If she had just been overwhelmingly attracted to him it would have read better for me. I think that is a personal hang up not the problem of the author.

My overall opinion is as follows. If male domination and vulgar sex talk suits you, this will be the book for you. I am interested in seeing how the heroine develops in book 2. Hoping for a tough heroine!

Narration was good. IMO it is credit worthy.

Good

This was book 1 in "The DiLustro Arrangement" series. This was a really good read that I liked Violetta is a happy 18 year old college student when she is forced to marry a Mafia Don she thinks that he uncle sold her when really she is a mafia Princess because her father was his boss. This was a slow burn of a read. Violetta was determined to get away and when she gets her chance it doesn't go as planned in fact it gets bad. Santino DiLustro is a hot sexy Italian !on boss called the king and he will do anything to protect her. Her aunt and uncle didn't prepare her for life in the mob she was kept in the dark. I liked this book but I felt at times she was very childish. This book was written with dual POV with Santino's going back and fourth the book was mostly from her POV. I also wanted more sex scenes the one in the book was hot. This book was well written and read as I listened to it as well as read it with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book as this one left off on a cliffhanger.

Just okay

The storyline was okay, and it kept my interest. However, the way the lead female character is written comes across like a whiny, petulant child. And the narration of the character only adds to that due to her high, whiny voice inflection that she uses through the majority of the book. Together, it made the female character annoying. The male lead character was more interesting, but because there were only a handful of chapters written from his perspective, the character didn’t have as much depth as he could have. The ending was a cliffhanger.
