Publisher's Summary

After failing to completely close The Rift, Lusam and Neala travel south in search of the illusive Pearl Isle, where they hope to discover the fourth Guardian book, and return in time to try again. Time, however, is not on their side, as the dark God, Aamon, sets in motion a plan to restore his own power, and once again tear open The Rift to unleash the horrors of the Netherworld upon their world.

Aysha's new inability to see his destiny, along with her prophetic warnings about a hidden realm and Neala's certain death if she enters it, all weigh heavily on Lusam's mind. Old friendships are rekindled, and new ones forged along the way, some more strange than they could ever have imagined. And a new discovery is made, one so profound that it will change Lusam's life forever, as well as rewrite the very history of Afaraon.

Get on with it!!!

People are dying - get on with it! You actually forget people are at war & dying. Lusam, who's supposed to be the savior leaves the battle to look for another book that will help him save the world. The search for this book is taking him down every brick road known to man & then some - it's just too much. The other stories suffer because Lusam is front & center for most of this last book. I actually got tired of hearing of Lusam's escapades because I wanted to know more about Zedd's story, the Paladin's battle & Lord Zelrod's megalomania.

All Powerful Mage - Forgets Basic Abilities

While endearing in the first few books, Lusam's tendency to forget his basic skills and abilities smells more like a struggle to fill dialogue at this point. This is compounded by a tendency of characters to quickly become emotional and take a strong stance on something. For example:

"It's not here! We've wasted this journey!"
"Well let's look anyways since we came all this way."
"No, it's useless! There's nothing here!"
"Wait can't you see magic if you try? Maybe that will work"
"Oh... right..."

Dragon Mage Wars

I have just finished book 5 of the Dragon Mage Wars series and it was awesome. I could not stop listening, once I started book 1 I went through To Book 5 without a break and they are without doubt some of the best books I have got on Audible. Story is fantastic with grrat pace, narration is one of the best I have heard matching the story line perfectly. Highly recommended.

I loved it!

Holds up really well to the previous books and in some ways, it's even better. The introduction of the hidden realm was more interesting than I anticipated. The events in that realm didn't take away from the main plot and I've even become somewhat invested in the future there.
