Publisher's Summary

Hello? Police? My husband and our children...they’re gone.

When Mel arrives at the holiday cottage in the Lake District, she expects to find the heating on and her husband, Luke, and the two children waiting for her. Maybe a bottle of wine open....

Instead, there is just a note on the side, saying they’ve gone out for a walk. But they aren’t back several hours later, and Mel knows something is wrong. Really wrong. When a search doesn’t find them, she has to confess to the police that her marriage isn’t all that it seems. Even if that risks her own secrets being revealed....

Hard to listen to as a mother

Definitely not what I was expecting. I had to pause during parts of the book and take a breath. As a mother it was hard to listen. The book was overall good and ended appropriately but I could have went without the abuse. I also spent a majority of the book hating the father who is weak and a sorry excuse for a father who cannot protect his children. Utterly disgusting!

Interesting but predictable

not a bad listen but I felt there could have been more. The story seemed like it was condensed and glazed over areas that could have added so much more to the story.

slow start, implausible in places but trots along

Bit of a slow start, implausible in places, but once story gets going, gets bit more interesting. Good characterization of the lead female in the story (dont want to give anything away), cleverly drawn, and very believable. Not brilliant but entertaining enough in the background

Started Well

I had high hopes but for me this book didn't deliver. I didn't feel invested in any of the characters so couldn't bring myself to care much where they'd gone, but again, that's probably just me.

Good but needed editing down

There were one or two twists in this book, but 85% of the book would be better described as drama as opposed to thriller. At least 1/3 of the story could have been edited out.
