تتحدّث الرواية عن كاتب يحاول كتابة رواية، لكنه يشركك كقارئ ومستمع فى خطته التحضيرية لكتابتها بدءًا من الشخصيات النسائية التى يعرفها فى أرض الواقع، والتى يحاول إضافتها إلى نسيج الرواية مروراً بمراجعه المستخدمة، وأجزاء من الروايات التى يحبها ويحاول الاقتباس منها والتى كانت بمثابة مصدر إلهام له.

الرواية تأخذك لعالم الكتاّب والفنانين والمثقفين، كيف يفكرون وكيف تصبح أبسط التفاصيل اليومية ملهمة ومهمة فى سياق أعمالهم الفنية؟، سيتمكن الكاتب من أن يجعلك تعيش معه، وأن ترغب فى قراءة الكتب التى قرأها، وأن تضع خطوطاً بقلمه الفسفورى تحت الأجزاء التى أعجبتك فى روايته، كما فعل هو مع كتبه المفضلة، ربما لدرجة أن تتمنى لو تتناول معه فنجان "النسكافيه" الذى يحبه!
