Publisher's Summary

Socialite Abigail Mulholland has spent a lifetime surrounded by luxury…until her scenic flight plummets into the remote Australian wilderness. When rescue doesn’t come, she finds herself thrust into a world of deadly snakes and primitive conditions in a landscape that is both brutal and beautiful. But trekking the wilds of Kakadu means fighting two wars—one against the elements and the other against the magnetic pull she feels toward fellow survivor Mackenzie, a much younger man.

Mackenzie Steel had finally achieved his dream of becoming a five-star chef when his much-anticipated joy flight turns each day into a waking nightmare. But years of pain and grief have left him no stranger to a harsh life. As he battles his demons in the wild, he finds he has a new struggle on his hands: his growing feelings for Abigail, a woman who is as frustratingly naïve as she is funny.

Fate brought them together. Nature may tear them apart. But one thing is certain—love is as unpredictable as Kakadu, and survival is just the beginning…

This gripping action-adventure standalone novel is set deep in Australia’s rugged Kakadu National Park and won the Romantic Book of the Year in 2014.

amazing

I've only just discovered Kendall's writing, and even though this isn't my trope, i wanted to listen anyway.
this journey of self-discovery, love. redemption and self-healing could not have been set in a more apt world as where kendall depicted.
the world building was beautiful, and the research regarding flora and fauna in Kakadu was vast and full of depth. to have a vital passenger with important information was a stroke of genius as it smoothes the way for plausibility.
although there were no real life-threatening accidents or incidents... apart from the obvious crash, I found the survival and constant testing of their minds. their nature and their adaptability was was so amazing about this book.
the little side mystery that kendall cleverly slipped in was yet another feasible reason behind the dilemma.
both H and h had pasts they had to come to terms with, and although their history was different from eachothers, the underlying tone was one that could resonate with either side of the tracks. although thete was sadness and angst in some places, there i also enjoyed some laughter and joy
the HEA came in a slightly different way that I perceived it would and just maflde their hardship all the sweeter.
I was half expecting the h to sell up and buy a house in a rural country .
Justine, I have listened to before with a different accent, and I like her about tone and inflections.
it takes a little getting used to the Australian accent, and sometimes she sounds like a cross between English and New Zealand . but I did get used to her and settled in to enjoy an amazing bush walk!!
