What a step up from the rest of the series
This might actually be the zenith of the series. I loathed most of the books up to this point just beyond the point of dropping the series, but this whole book was excellent. Finally, intense confrontations and real danger. Very nicely done. I hope the rest of the books going forward will be as good.

a brilliantly woven story
the characters are consistent and every book moves the story forward. Rand is my favorite character and he deals with the huge responsibility very well. Matt and Perin add a lightness but equally import roll to the story and the two rivers girls Egwain and Nineveh are perfect
