Publisher's Summary

Pain, horror, fear - these are the things that have comprised best-selling novelist Lance Metzger's life. His childhood remains a riddled wasteland of abuse by a sadistic father and abandonment by an apathetic mother. In turn his only refuge became his writing.

When Lance loses his ability to write and becomes haunted by a nightmare that he'd thought was buried, he is drawn inexplicably to a house on the shores of Lake Superior, where he finds his muse once again - but something is waiting for him when he arrives. Now he must unlock the devastating secrets that the house holds and uncover the mystery of his own broken past before he loses his sanity - and perhaps his soul.

Very shocking thriller start to finish

The first three chapters were the best. hard to become more intense after that. Ending came fast and a little loose, but nothing terrible. A few loose ends I don't think tied. loved how the tired his lineage to the beginning chapters.

so good.....

I wasn't sure I was going to like it when it first started. So glad that I made it through the first chapter. It was gripping. I literally did not want to turn it off until it was finished. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more of this authors work.

Great character development and wrap!

If you could sum up Lineage in three words, what would they be?

Complex, dark with good denouement

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yest it was captivating.

What three words best describe Neil Hellegers’s performance?

staccato,

Any additional comments?

Enjoyed this story very much. It did an extremely good job of character development and tied it all together very nicely while including some very intense and gory descriptions that were essential to the story line.

A great ghost Mystery you cannot put down!

Should be a classic ghost thriller. This is one of Hart's best books. I highly recommend it to those who love scary ghost stories.

Loved it!

I work from home, and love audiobooks to keep me on track, I'm super ADHD, and this was the ticket. I didn't want to stop working so I could just keep listening. Thanks for the great story. Well done! And - the narrator was spot on!

A Different Ghost Story

Any additional comments?

I really wanted to love this book, but for me, it was just okay. Some of the violence was hard to listen to, but it was integral to the story. The story had good potential, but it just seemed slow to me. I felt like very time I started getting into it, it went in another direction and lost momentum.
This was my first Joe Hart book, and I will definitely try again with some of his other stories.

Lots of gore but good story

Love the story loved the intertwining plot and ending was amazing. The Gore was unnecessary and seem to just take up pages. Otherwise a good story and I'm very glad I got it

Gory but good.

Generally, I like my ghost stories to be creepy rather than blood and guts and gore and veins in your teeth. That said, this was pretty enjoyable. The house on the cover doesn't fit the description, but what the heck. Neil Hellegers has the perfect voice for this reading, gruff and urgent, with an air of doom.

FANTASTIC

I never write reviews but this book was a "could not put down, thriller". I love a good scare and this book had that and more. Well worth the money.

An excellent listen

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A good plot, and good characters. I felt the narrator did an excellent job keeping the suspense all the way through.

simply too OTT

very long and drawn out it was an ok book but I just didnt understand the characters mindset a normal person would have called the police early on in this title. The end of the book bordered on the ridiculous yes it is fiction but wow the author is asking a lot of his reader in this title.
